First step: Anyone know where to get a new neck socket for this? I'm in need. I took mine apart to see why it looked "odd" to me, and found out. The prior owner took it apart and soldered together some of the pin sockets which were broken. When he put it back together, aside from some big lumps of solder inside, he looks to have forgotten one of them. The tube has 9 pins (8+1) and mine only connects to 8 of them. Probably explains some of why this chassis doesn't work.

I won't go into much detail other than I have no neck glow, no...well, nothing! Not that it's much of a surprise at this point! Guy also had the wrong flyback in it, which I already pulled, but I'm dubious of his cap work as well. May just recap the whole board & HOT once I get a new neck socket so I can actually troubleshoot from there. I hate to shotgun, but I think it's worth the effort on this one since I have so many unknowns.

You can see the missing pin (left most hole) and some of the "repaired" pins.

Tested the BU508A HOT out of circuit:
Code:
[u]Base Collector Emitter[/u]
Red 0.411 0.497
Black 0.487 .0L
----- Black .0L
----- Red 0.702

This shows it's Bad, yes?

no love indeed. you should've put 4600 in the title. or MTC 900 or whatever. ;)

once I rescue all my games from storage later today I will let you know the status of an extra Polo chassis I have.

I seem to remember that the neck socket has an open pin like you mentioned. I noticed it the last time I worked on my brother's Polo 25, it still worked fine. Probably wouldn't hurt to have someone verify it though.
