Hi - I have a Polo 25 in a Smash TV that I'm trying to restore from being hacked to something else and have inherited a mish-mash of wires and trying to work my way through them (in newbie style).

In the attached, I'm unclear where this connection is from? I understand the 3 prong (middle) is the power and the other is the monitor feed from the game board, but any idea where this is coming from?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just dug around and couldn't find any degauss connections, but I took the attached photo and it appears it's been snipped. Is this what it would be coming from and why the hell would it be cut? Does my Smash TV setup require this to run properly? Thanks

Yes and it could be cut for any number of reasons. Usually, if the coil is shorted, hooking it up damages the chassis, so someone probably cut it for that reason. They are easily replaceable but they are also not absolutely necessary. They coil counteracts any stray magnetic field that might interfere with the monitor. If the final resting place of your machine isn't being subjected to stray magnetic fields, then you're good.

Thanks for the info. I will carry on and try and get everything re-connected and leave it for the last hurdle...

Cheers

Ah, also - if I may:

The attached is again the back of the Polo 25 - I'm now wondering about the power (see arrow) connection - I can't quite make sense of the schematics for the Polo 25 I googled. What you see here has 3 connectors going in - mine only has two. Again, wondering if anyone can confirm the voltage going in?

THanks

Pretty sure you should be getting between 100-120v as the cage suggests, it will be split between the outside wires, the middle is ground I believe. My polos always have loose connectors so I make sure to reflow the solder

The picture posted above also shows that the dag wire has been snipped. That needs to be restored and connected to the spade connector on the neckboard.

Thanks @MKL - I also wondered about that wire. So please excuse the newbie questions, but:

- dag wire, what's it do?
- how to restore - can i just put a connector on it?
- I have no idea what/where the spade connector is on the neckboard...

Thanks!!

The spade connector is right next to the base of the white socket that connects to the neck of the tube...the connector is sometimes hidden under the wires.

Ok, thanks- is it OK if i reconnect that dag wire with a molex and re-connect it?

Seems concerning that someone would have clipped that wire....and the more I search for Polo 25 stuff the more I get concerned I'm heading down the wrong path :)

Fortunately for you, M K L is the polo expert. Yes, molex should be fine as I actually used a spade connector with a friends well garner, and that turned out.

Quick question - for the dag wire - I need to extend that wire that has been chopped, put a spade connector on it, and hook it back up. What gauge wire would be sufficient to extend it?

Also, dumb question. But there appears to be another wire (ground wire) coming off the monitor, does that just connect to the chassis structure on any bolt?

I'm flying a little blind - so I want to connect everything up and share a photo of the connections and see if anyone can kindly verify or point out any missing steps before I turn this thing on!

Cheers

Looking to verify connections...

Hi all - appreciate any help in advance here. I'm looking to confirm if my connections are all good and if I'm missing anything here?

Main thing is correctness of connecting ground wire off monitor to monitor frame?

That dag wire reconnect seems ok?

That it should be ok to keep the degauss wires chopped and unconnected?

Are there any other connections I've missed here?

thanks!!
