I am working on a couple Hantarex Polo/2 chassis for a friend and have a few questions...

They are both the same model Polo/2 25/28 chassises. One had an arcing flyback that I replaced and now does the clicking thing when powered on. Research is leading me to believe that the HOT is dead. Question is, where the heck is the HOT? Is it in the power section under the cage or close to the flyback?

Also, the arcing flyback that I pulled out was HR7375 and I replaced it with a HR7191. At first I was thinking that perhaps I had an incompatible flyback but when I checked the model # in the other semi-working Polo/2 chassis it is a HR7191. So what gives? Anyone have any experience with this model chassis that can shed some light and share some knowledge?

Unfortunately, you may not get much help on this site(or any other) w/Hantarex . I have posted ?? for Hantarex and gotten no replies. I have been dealing(pulling my hair out) with a few 9000s and Polos, although I have not seen a Polo2. Judging by your pic. It looks like your HOT is located on the metal divider next to flyback, and behind the small pcb with all the adjustment knobs. It should be the smaller of the transistors strapped to the metal divider (next to the blue square adj. pot)farthest from the adjustment pcb . I am not 100% sure with out a schematic for this model.
Why did it crash after just replacing flyback?--Welcome to the world of Hantarex were it seems the laws of physics cease to exist;,).

Alright, I set my DMM to diode and compared the two transistors pictured below on a working Polo/2 chassis and the bad one. On the good chassis when measuring with black lead on the chassis frame and red to the metal tab/middle leg I get high resistance on both transistors. On the bad one I get .5xx on the #2 transistor and .000 (no resistance) on the #1 transistor.

So a couple of questions...

1) Will not having a flyback installed give me bad readings on those transistors?

2) Confirm transistor #2 is the HOT

3) Are both transistors shot or is one bad one causing the other to read bad?

Unfortunately, you may not get much help on this site(or any other) w/Hantarex .

isn't that the truth??

fortunately, I know one man that can lend a helping hand. www.arcadecup.com, he's pretty good with those. :) I still have to send my Polo to him for repair, just never seem to get around to it.

twice I've sent it to those a-holes at PNL for it not firing up, all it does it a faint clicking. even after they re-fixed it (after whacking me for another $30 to ship it to them!) it quit again about 3 months later.

but really, talk to Chad at arcadecup.com. you can even call him (during normal hours) if need be.

I have a 19" Polo SVGA monitor too, is that the Polo 2? I never knew the difference between the Polo and Polo 2.

Never worked on this chassis, but I would say #1 is the HOT.... have worked on more than my share of 9000's and polos.
You should remove the transistors to test them properly....also some HOTS have a built in damper diode that can make them appear to be bad unless you know what you're looking for. If the flyback is in you will read a short between the two outside pins of the HOT.
If the flyback is toasty then I would replace the HOT anyway.
I would check those gray poly caps in front of #1 for shorts as well.

Still working on this... I read somewhere online of a person having a similar problem with the washed out screen and turned out it was the wrong flyback. Well after some detective work it turns out that the HR7191 is the wrong flyback and HR7375 is the correct flyback.

Now, can anyone recommend a reseller that has this flyback (HR7375) for sale? I found a couple, all oversees.

Also, the HR7375 that I do have (and was arcing and blew the HOT) looks pretty much intact. I heard that putting some silicone around the top will prevent arcing. Can anyone speak from experience if this will work (and is a good idea). I really do not want to risk blowing the HOT. Is an arcing flyback the main cause of frying the HOT?

do you know if hantarex polo/2 28 is full compatible with hantarex polo 28?
can i use it as replacement without any modification for hantare polo 28?
