Hey guys,

I recently acquired a BEAUTIFUL Sinistar upright (with all matching numbers) that Muel helped me get working. The only problem we are having now is with the focus (maybe convergance) not really sure on the Hantarex MTC-900E monitor. We did a full cap kit on it and both boards look clean. When we try to focus it on the flyback it doesn't quite focus. We have tried everything which makes me think it could be a flyback issue at this point. When we looked at the test grid the verticle lines vary in thickness and some parts of the monitor focus better then other parts. As you may know getting a flyback for this monitor seems like an unlikely task. I rejuvenated the tube and it is perfect so I know that is not the issue. Display is nice and bright...this thing will just not focus....

Thoughts....

The folks at Hantarex won't be any help either! I'm still trying to find the HAN transisitor. I sent them an email a week ago...not a peep out of them!

When you did the cap kits, did you reflow the flyback connections? I'm thinking you got a connection or three that is high resistance.

Take a hard look at the board for any connections that look the least bit weird or not perfect, and re-flow them. When in doubt, pull the old solder, and replace with new. If you're trying to fix it, that's your best route to success.
