I have a buddy that has an old Aladdin's Choice cab with a non-working Hantarex MTC 9000 in it. Whatever gameboard is in it, it plays blind. There is no glow from the neck and it is making a clicking sound.

Where would be a good place to start looking for a problem and what does a clicking sound usually indicate? The monitor looks brand new and has zero burn so it would be nice to get it going for him to leave in the cab. I am attaching a picture of the monitor. It has an Orion tube in it as well. I don't know if it is compatible with any of the WG chassis or anything either.

Thanks

Ok I will check it out. I noticed Bob Roberts has a repair kit that has the flyback, HOT and a cap kit in it. It is only $28, would it be smart to go ahead and pick this up and replace all of it while we are working on it? The cab was free, so it isn't like he has a lot invested in it already. ;)

Yes.

Those are the most common problems. Get those out of the way for not much of a $ investment.

When a monitor like that clicks, the thing is in shutdown. Typically this is an indication of a short somewhere.
