Hantarex 25" monitor bad GREEN color transistor

Hey there all,

I have a Capcom cabinet that has come in with messed up colors... After trying to adjust the pots i noticed that there was no green. I put up test pattern to confirm this and sure enough, no green.

I swapped the red transistor with the green one, on the neck board and i have green now, but no red. So good news, i found the problem... Bad news, cant find a datasheet for the transistor that was in there and cant find a cross reference.

Its a C3956 thats gone bad.

I have a few C2611 sitting around, but i cant make a comparison since i cant find the data sheet.

Any idea what could match up with a C3956 ?

SWEET !.. Thanks for the datasheet.

It looks as if the application for these two transistors are the same...

Also, looking at the 'Absolute Maximum Ratings' on these two datasheets, it appears that they are similar. However, the 2SC2611 collector current is lower than the original. Is that a concern ?

Is there anyone with a bit more knowladge that can have a look ? Just dont want to blow stuff up ;-p

It's worth a shot... you shouldn't damage anything but that transistor if it's not good enough... from a quick look, I see the gain bandwidth product is a little lower, but it may still be good enough. If it looks like crap, then it probably wasn't good enough :p .

Hey there,

Just swapped them and it seems to work fine... gonna run it a while and play with the gain, see if it stays in the green ;-p
