We held our Halloween party Friday night, which means that it's time for my third-annual installment of gameplay results!
From an arcade standpoint, the party went off without a hitch. About a week ago, Spy Hunter started randomly rebooting. I was going to just let it go, but about three hours before the party it went into a constant reboot cycle. I pulled it out, checked the voltage (low) and found that the connectors on the linear board needed to be reseated. After that, everything was running, and continued to run though the entire night!
I failed to take any photos, but here are a couple from a friend. As you can see, the fellow at the Joust cocktail has had a really long game.
Typical for Halloween, the focus of this party is not the arcade games. This means that the results never match what I would expect, and they always have significant variation from previous years. Here are the results, most popular on the left, overlaid with the two previous years.
As you can see, Dragon's Lair, Punch Out!!, and EDOT were new editions this year. Here are my thoughts:
1. I need another pinball machine.
2. Centipede did not get a single play! What the hell? Maybe everyone was scared by the awesomeness of the sideart, which is, without a doubt, the world's most awesome sideart.
3. Operation Wolf wins for consistency, varying no more that three plays over each of the three years. Uncanny.
4. Total number of games played was 409, up from 358 least year and a fantastic cleaning product.
5. I can't fit a curve to this data very well.
6. As usual, Ms. Pac got a lot of play from the ladies, although that's not one in the above photo.
Happy Halloween, everybody!
