Here are my pics from Halloween in my new garage/arcade...

Probably around 60 kids and some older folks stopped by...my new neighbors were very appreciative, and I heard a lot of the younger kids proclaiming that this was the coolest Halloween EVER! Great to see the younger generation get a feel of what a real arcade is/was all about...

All the games got their fair share of play...and best of all: NO problems at all with the games or the folks playing them.

I expect my reputation will now grow and maybe I'll get even more folks next year!

Here are a few pics:

Dude thats awseome!
Although I would have hung an out of order sign on Quantum and Black Widow then roped them off with crime scene tape so no one went near them :)
Cool to see them getting played! After all thats what they were made for!

You joke but I've done that before with a game or 2...but go crazy on Ms.Pac all day if you want to kids.. :)

I hope they appreciate that they are playing some pretty cool titles there. Looks like a blast!

You will.. and each year there is a good chance more and more people will come to your place. It makes it even better when next year people come back and say "This is the place with the arcade games" or a parent tells you that their kids have looked forward to your place during Halloween.

Probably a dumb question, but what is the game on the left here:

*edit: just looked through the photobucket album. Major Havoc. Sorry, I completely missed the golden age...

As you say, I am a firm believer in the original purpose of these games which is to have any and all folks play them and have a good time. How else will the younger generation learn to love these games 'cause in sure won't be at the ever-shrinking numbers of arcades still remaining that are often only filled with a bunch of lame redemption machines anyway? ;)

And I'd be more concerned with my Inferno...it's much rarer than Quantum and certainly Black Widow. I am currently in the process of replicating those black plastic joystick handles (used in both Inferno and Blaster) from a pair of NOS ones that I recently picked up. I hope to make a bunch available for others as they are very prone to breaking as any Blaster owner will tell you.

Seriously, if anyone's interested in a set, let me know and I'll let you know when they're ready. It will be awhile yet, but the process has been initiated :) .

But back to Halloween...I do let any local KLOV'rs know if they want to come by to just let me know...and some do take me up on it (although I don't think any did come by this year which is a little unusual, but that's the way it goes of course).

The rest of y'all are welcome to fly in for next Halloween :D.

Or just come to CAX next summer...a good number of my games go to the CAX show, too.

Oh yeah...I had many parents at my old place who would tell me that their kids talked about my place for the next year and couldn't wait until next Halloween to pay me another visit :) .

I imagine there must have been quite a few disappointed faces at my old place this year...but they can take it up with what had been my HOA that forced me out due to their intrusive, heavy-handed, paint-with-the-broadest-brush-possible "solution" to a few folks' complaints that a largely non-existent parking problem at my ex-community all of a sudden required that everyone clear out their garages and keep them clear at all times as they (the HOA) dug up an arcane rule that gave them (again the HOA) the right to inspect everyone's garages for compliance (and fine you if you didn't comply).

The intrusiveness of yet another governing "body" that is supposedly enforcing some sort of greater good which really means a "greater good" for those who are connected or agree with certain agendas... :( . Don't get me started on how less free we are all slowly but surely becoming thanks to the heavy-handedness of both our local, State, and Federal governments and all in the name of "we know better than you do" mentality :( :(.

But I digress...

A belated Happy Halloween to everyone!

Jon ;)

I love the posts! Going for the Gold Mine setup?

Not my original intent, but my interior decorating skills are a cross between very limited to too lazy to be bothered :) . I'd rather put my efforts into keeping the games themselves in top shape :D .

The new garage came as is...I just added some insulation and the industrial carpet, and also took out some shelves to make room for more games. Oh yeah...and I cleaned up a whole bunch of the usual dust/cobwebs/buggies, etc....still fighting the latter as they are always trying to reassert themselves ;) ...

No gold or silver found yet...

Jon
