Hi to all!

Halloween is fast approaching and I will again be opening my garage/arcade to any and all in the San Francisco/Bay Area who want to stop by and play some classic games for a few hours. All 26 uprights (as listed in my signature below) and my 2 pins are 100% operational and ready to go (knock on wood!) :D .

For those of you who don't know, I do this every year now and it is quite a fun spectacle. I usually get around 150-250 happy kids and parents who stop by to play for a spell. Everything's on free play of course, and I particularly enjoy watching the younger set play these classics, many I'm sure doing so for the first time on an actual upright. I'm always surprised by how all of my games get a work out...even the lesser known titles!

Check out some pictures from last year here:

I'll open up around 6ish or so, and stay open until whenever (probably around 9:30 to 10ish...maybe later since it's a Saturday this year :) ).

I'm located in one of the small suburbs just south of San Francisco itself. Feel free to send me a PM for the address if you think you can make it!

A few KLOV'rs stopped by last year...hopefully, I'll see them again and maybe more this year? ;)

Cheers,

Jon

Very cool Jon and I'll be the first... "wish you were 400+ miles closer"!

that looks like one of the best times ever, I'm sorry I moved away from the area!!

Yeah, I'm all the way in New York. If I were in the area I'd be all over Robotron, Zoo Keeper, Star Wars and Joust... in that order.

Sounds like fun!

Yeah, if only you lived clos....wait a minute. That's not right. You're right around the corner. Sorta. :) I'll be there again this year. Fedora and whip in tow.

PS. Don't tell Mola Ram. I want to surprise him this time!

very nice collection of games, looked like lots of fun, the old saying "if I was only closer".

"If only I was closer" Pshah! :)

What's a quick plane ride from Miami or New York? :D

Kidding! But if you really are in the area, please do stop by.

IJ is definitely waiting for you Chris! That costume was/is terrific!

Just bumping up my post...

Come of by if you can...play some common and some not-so-common games...

Hope to see some of you on Saturday!

Jon

One last bump...

Hey, looks like Daylight Savings Time hits on Halloween eve this year which means we set the clocks back 1 hour sooo....

1 more hour to play around on Halloween if anyone in the area wants to stop by.

All games still ready to go...I'll give them a last "shine" right beforehand ;) ...

Again, just PM me for the address :) .

Jon

Nice selection of games you have.
Dissapointed that only kids actually dressed up tho :(
Man I throw an adult Halloween party every year and everyone dresses the part. We crank up the music, all get sloppy ass drunk playing beer pong and then migrate in between the livingroom where people partake in Wii action or Xbox360 Guitar Hero or to the gameroom to enjoy some old skool stuff.

Not to mention lots of flesh show'ers lol.

I will be posting pics this year I hope so does everyone else.

Many of the parents do have on costumes!

My thing is more along the lines of a "neighborhood" or "block" party...not really much of a drinking/adult party (although a couple of parents do have beers in hand).

Lots of people stop on by as they do their trick or treat rounds, and of course the parents and many of the older "kids" can't resist :) ...

I love seeing the younger folks playing these games...and hope they get a good taste of what it used to mean to play a good video game on an actual machine (minus the need for quarters)...

Many of the parents tell me of how their kid or kids have been talking quite frequently about visiting my garage ever since last Halloween ;) ...

Jon

Ahhhh - ya know having an open "stop in and play" Halloween gig is an excellent idea! Beings as you have a garcade I could totally see a ton of people dropping in/by.

Jonathan, I'll be up in Tahoe this weekend so I won't be able to make it. Have fun!

'Twas another fun Halloween at my place :) !

Here are the pics (and a couple of vids) of the fun:

Amazing each year what gets played...for whatever reason, my Inferno saw quite a bit of use with a lot of the kiddies really seeming to get into it...and of course a lot of folks loved the Twilight Zone pin I rolled out of the house this time around...

All games worked perfectly with no failures...WHEW! ;) ...

Until next year when I do it all again...

Jon

I think this year was my third year and my ladies second year in attendance and as always we had a great time. Quantum, where have you been all of my life!

Thanks again Jon, if only the kids and parents knew just how lucky they were to have access to your collection, so many great titles.

What? No pics of Batman? That was a great costume. Another thanks for another great time, Jonathan! Really enjoyed getting to tryout the Twilight Zone pin. And of course, battling Thuggees and Mola Ram. :D

I'd say moderate...it did get played. I think the games that got the least play were probably Star Trek and Gravitar...but even they did see some action.

Most played would have been Star Wars (set to ESB for most of the night), PacMan, Millipede, Inferno (?), Joust 2 (??), Quantum, and of course the TZ pin. Some of the usual and not so usual suspects in there, eh? Every year the games that see the most action seem to change a bit...

My favorite part of the night was when a small group of kids...probably about in the 14-15 year old age range came into the garage wide-eyed and giddy with one of them loudly proclaiming "This is so cool...so retro!" :D .

They were also very gracious and thanked me for letting them play and have a good time. I had fun showing/teaching one of them how to play a good game of Tempest  ...
