And it came out in '86 too. How fitting. I remember being so excited for that damned comet's visit and then looking up and never seeing anything. Now the Hale-Bopp comet of 97/98, that was a spectacular comet. Halley's could learn a thing or 2 about showmanship from old Hale-Bopp. Anyhoo, back on topic, this looks like a fun game. The one on Mpls CL looks even more fun because of the marquee:

Man, I am still amazed that games pop up that I have never even heard of

-much less played.

Oddly enough, there was a Heaven's Gate video game that came out in '96, but it had nothing to do with spaceships following comets, creating websites, or mass scuicide.

Don't drink the kool-aid and pickup that Ninty cabinet with the Comet game...

Halley's Comet is an awesome shooter. I covered it for Game Room magazine a few years back in my Lost Arcade Classics column.

Kyle

Never played it in an arcade but it is in my Mame favorites. One of those games that got my attention from Mala playing the attract vids.

Do any of you remember the Diff'rent Strokes Halley's Comet episode? For some reason that one and the acid rain episode have really stuck with me over the years.

I shaved my head 4 days before that whole thing went down.

Needless to say, I did not hear the end of "Where are your purple Nikes" or capes, or whatever, for quite some time...

Helps me remember when I shaved my head, though. I guess that's good. It's been shaved ever since.

cool shooter game, music's good in it too, they were sold back in the days as conversion kits. they had one down here at a local bowling alley in a pengo cab

Those marquees must be rare. Several years ago, I picked up a Halley's Comet at an estate sale without a marquee. Turned out the people selling the house, the guy was an ex-executive of Taito. If he didn't have the marquee, who would? KLOV does show one though.
