half-silvered mirror?

I am curious about this also, my asteroids deluxe's mirror is 90% fine, but the bottom left corner has some of the reflective material wearing off. (looks similar to flaking on a bezel, but with the reflectiveness of the glass)

It is kind of annoying when your ship/asteroids get darker in that corner and don't reflect well.

Also I wonder if silvered and bronzed glass are different. One of my solar quests has a crack in one of the corners, and the manual says it has "solar bronze glass"

If you already have the glass, take it to a glass shop and see if they can match it.

If you don't, tell them you need half-silvered glass. Explain it needs to reflect an image from a monitor, but also allow a backlit item to show through. they should be able to come up with what you need....

Go look up astromomy mirrors and re-silver it yourself. It is not difficult, I used to do it in high school to make astronomical telescope mirrors. You only need a few chemicals that you used to be able to get from places like Edmunds Scientific.

I just don't know if the Asteroids mirrors are coated or not. That might be an issue.

You may consider contacting some area hotels. I'm in the business and this is an ongoing problem. I bet there's a maintenance shop somewhere around there with a bunch of them. They may even give them to you for free.

I've heard of people getting them cut at glass shops....
My "mirror" on the A.D. I owned in the 90s was shattered in shipping. I measured the size from the area it fits in, took said measurements to a glass shop and explained the application and was out the door with my custom cut piece that worked like a charm for < $50. I'm sure with your original in hand, any glass place can knock that out for you...

I may be on to a local (for me) source for the half-silver mirrors. Turns out there is a section of town specializing in glass not to far from here. Will report back after I have a chance to get over there.
