So I go looking at the Half Price Books old cartridge area to see if I need anything there, and realize that prices have gone up.

Not just a buck or two, but now they want 15.00 for a NES TMNT cart only, and 10.00 for a Sonic 2 for Genesis, so on and so on. The pricing is way extreme.

Was wondering if all the stores were pricing them this way or just mine?

Is this a retail store? They're either just looking at asking prices or trying to cover retail margins. Neither of those games is worth that much.

At least they sell other items there. Any place I've seen that focuses on used games that have high prices don't end up lasting long.

I don't know that I've ever seen games at a HPB down here. Maybe I just never noticed them before. I do know their prices on books has gone up in the last few years, so I suppose it's to be expected.

My local HPB barely has any older games. I think there are like 2 NES carts and a couple of N64 carts. The rest is more current generation console games. I say just go on eBay or CL if you're looking for a particular game(s). There are always deals out there.

I was just really surprised at the pricing more than anything..

Yeah, chain retailers will usually have higher prices. It's unfortunate because some of these games just collect dust for years because no one wants to buy them. Even sadder, there are no independent video game stores in this area anymore either. So my only options for buying retro games if I want them is eBay and CL. :(
