Hailrazer and NewSheriffInTown go on a raid......of sorts. :)

My good ole buddy NewSheriffInTown on the forums called me up last week and said he had a lead on some games. Did I want in? Well heck yea ,of course I did!

So here's the scoop. Apparently he has a friend who has a friend who has a friend, well you get the point. Anyway one of the friends has some games in a semi-trailer and his basement for sale. The guy got them from his dad who used to have a gameroom and was trying to get rid of some stuff.

I head down to Alabama Sunday morning and meet Wesley and Chuck at a gas station outside of a small town. The "friend" shows up to lead us to the location.

After multiple turns and back roads we get to the perfect location to store some bodies..............I mean to store some video games. :D
Is that banjo music I hear playing?

We look around there a while, it was disappointing. But we find out the guys dad has more games elsewhere. Well off we go like 3 old men looking for video games!

We get to an old gameroom and find a few things worth taking home. We left with 31 games.

We wound up offering the guy $1500 for all of them. He wasn't thrilled with the offer and said he would think about it. So we upped the offer to $75 a game. He still wouldn't take it.
So we shot the breeze and talked about the good ole days. Finally the guy said "I tell you what, give me $2,000 and it's yours." We couldn't get the money out fast enough :D

Watch the video for more. And yes I know I am not a professional videographer :p

that's a nice selection of machines, when you said "not worth it most are waterlogged" i'm thinking to myself....why not try to get them cheap and strip them if not repairable?

anyway congrats on the score.

Good now make a resto video on each cab pronto!
Btw if you don't mind me asking hm did they cost?

The games in the semi are really bad. We might go get them tomorrow along with the Pin's. But yea, they are only worth it for parts, and maybe not much of that. But they will be saved if possible.

Should have called me. I'm good game moving labor...I work for games. :D

I'm interested in the Popeye and Galaga cabaret....

Man.
I could have used the MPU out of that Earthshaker if it was there... couldn't tell.

Looks like you guys'll get a few good restores outta that lot.
Enjoy!

Heck we didn't even know what was there or if we were even coming home with anything. But thanks for the offer. :D

Awesome. I also laughed because the suggestions on the side, I distinctly remember watching those videos of those handheld things you made (like the million other people that viewed it) years ago, funny how it ended up that the one who made them was on here. :D Small world... maybe.

I didn't see any of the pins on the trailers. Did you get them? all 4 of them fixed up are prob worth more than all the vids you grabbed.

There were only 2 at the first place we went. We didn't grab anything there yet. We are going back to grab a few this weekend.

Awesome find man!

Let me know if either one of you want to get rid of one of the Galagas or a blue Nintendo cab.

I could have sworn there was a xenon head that you looked at, and the body was next to the centipede at the first place.

That's not bad at all for $2k regardless of the games in the trailer being bad! You can make that up easily if you picked up that old sewing machine and found the right buyer.

Really? My cousin has tons of those old industrial leather sewing machines and can't give them away.

Enjoyed the video Hailrazer... I didn't even get any pictures so really glad you brought the camera. Its funny how we had envisioned all the hidden jewels that may be found among "at least a hundred video games and pinballs" - but were kinda let down to discover there were no sundances, computer spaces, warriors, etc. But still, I have wanted to add a nice PP to the Atari row and a nice Galaherger to set by my midway cabs, so I am happy. With so many multiples, it shouldn't be too hard to piece a nice one together.

We are going to take everything out of the basement, so the Fire and Earthshaker will be saved. The fate of the games in the trailer is yet to be determined. We are having a hard time as its difficult to leave a soldier behind. The playchoice didn't look too bad, but it was in the very back of the trailer. I don't care to ever see another pole position cabinet, and particularly have no desire to drag two more through all that junk. I just don't know.

Stay tuned for episode 2 - I've been friends with an old op for many years, never even asked about buying any of his stuff because the time wasn't right. I finally asked him the other day, whether he would be willing to sell some or all of it. Hes ready, so thats coming soon.

Some think this stuff is drying up.. To some degree, yes, alot of stuff has been picked through and gone, countless others have been lost because the buildings they were kept fell in bad repair. My opinion is that while this stuff is not only still out there, the old operators that had the big routes in the 70s and 80s are just now getting to be in their 60s and 70s, and they are at the age that they realize that they really cant take it with them... I believe its getting that time for more and more of these old stashes to start popping up.
