I just wanted ppl to read this and give me advice, since apparently I'm a moron.
here's the deal:
I bought a cap kit for a k7500(med res) I actually have 2 of them?(27k7500 and a 25k7500), and the 27" works(but gets fuzzy after about 5 mins. the other was completely dead(25" chassis).
I'm NEW to monitor repairing(any sort). I used to be one of those guys that would just junk the old monitors that didn't work regardless of what the issue was because I didn't know enough on how to fix them. I want to preserve what we do, and don't want to be part of the problem. These things aren't really available anymore, and we're limited as to what we have to work with now.
Anyways...... I wanted to try the cap kit thing on the dead one. it didn't work(but I also got not sparks either) so maybe I did it right? not that it matters... it's dead.
I replaced the 27" chassis' flyback with the 25" one seeing if it's flyback was better. well, it worked, but I went to adjust the focus(by hand) and got zapped the hardest I have ever been hit in my life. lmao, though it's not really funny. I now use a screw driver with a plastic handle to adjust the focus. They were both off a 7500 chassis, so i figured it'd be ok. well, it works and the focus is ok... could be better but it's adjusted as far as I can get it(pretty clear and stays that way unlike before). Do I need this specific flyback to replace it properly? my soldering job looked fine, but maybe i missed something. nothing appeared to have crossed into oncoming traffic. was it just static? or was that electricity? cuz it really hurt, and I have a burn mark on my hand near my thumb where I went to adjust the focus. I want it working without issues. I can play my Hydro thunder fine right now... but want to ajust things as needed without being on death row.
thanks in advance you geniuses you!
