Has anyone tried using the Hagstrom ME-4 with a Tempest spinner in DOS?
http://www.hagstromelectronics.com/products/me4.html

I'm working on my vectorMAME project iand the spinner has been a problem all along. I tried using a groovy game gear TurboTwist 2 but it seems to not function or lock up with all of the drivers I can find.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Spinner Testing

Preliminary testing says that this will work. I was able to play Tempest on it last night! Can't wait to get everything working all the way and mounted.

I purchased the cable that goes between the spinner and the board. It's a little unclear as to how to plug it into the spinner. The answer is, the locking tab is correct. The connector they use makes the cable seem as though it's going on wrong. I'll cover this in ZVG video #5.

Also, the board has to have the spinner jumper set to HIGH. After that it worked pretty well with the right driver. I'll also cover that in video 5.

They shipped really fast and the devices are pretty well documented.

Another update to this: My computer has "Legacy USB" as an option in BIOS and I tested the ME4 with both the PS/2 and USB cables. USB gave me considerably better response. Much more accurate and no jumping around the screen. If you can do it this way, I'd say it's the best choice.
