I was transporting a wrestlefest and a gutted gauntlet cab from a friends house to my house, had a strap snap off less than ten minutes from my house and lost both cabs on the road. Wrestlefest is toast, gauntlet has some scarring, but is salvageable. Im just thankful it was two parts cabs and not grails...

that sucks, at least you only damaged cabs. I always worry that someone following me will get hurt if something happens.

Sorry about your loss.

I usually use 2x as many straps as I need. It gives me a little peice of mind and doesn't cost anything but a little time.

I have only lost 1 thing on the road and that was a strap that loosened up and fell off....

A month ago I blew out the rear window of my F-150 with a California Speed. The game was ok the window was not. Good thing noone was hurt, two machines falling off a truck coulda done some major damage to people and / or vehicles.

Thanks, I normally keep three or four straps in my truck, but i decided to transport these on a whim after work this evening and realized much too late (after I had already loaded both cabs in the back of the truck,) that I was missing some straps. I really appreciated the random stranger that stopped to help me out after the fiasco happened. Funny thing was, first thing he says is: "That wasnt a pacman was it!!?"

It is always worth it to take the time to strap games in right. It doesn't hurt to stop and check the straps occasionally on long trips. All it takes is one time of not doing a good job. At the appliance store where I work, we always warn customers to strap appliances in and that we are not liable if they don't. We have had a few brand new units come back with major road rash and worse becuase they weren't tied in properly.

Your very right, that was my first concern, but luckily, no one was following close behind and no one else was involved. I am very glad for that. I dont believe my full coverage insurance covers damage caused by arcade games...hmmmm

I know the feeling, had it happen to me but with a fridge. It was strapped in, guy in front of me stopped real quick, so I had to also, straps broke, fridge fell backwards and then slammed forward and took out all the rear windows. After that, I transport all games now on there back, it was enough to scare me

How exactly did you have these games loaded? What were the road conditions like? I recently moved 2 games in my truck with minimal strapping. Roads were smooth and I never went past 35. The games didn't budge. All of my long distance moves have been with the game lying on it's back so no worries. So the consensus is 2 straps for upright moves in a pickup?

...and I guess that I didn't kill anyone with an arcade cabinet flying into the road. ;)

Just playing with you. That's scary. I really, really, really don't like transporting cabs upright in my truck. Even though I strap and rope em down within an inch of their lives, there's always that oddball turn or bump that will make your balls shrivel up quick.

One less Wrestlefest in the world. :(

Yeah, I've done it many times, with no problem whatsoever. My main point in posting this was just a reminder to all the others that these things can happen so be careful!! As for the conditions, I was doing about 40-45 on a straight stretch of road, thats what is so strange, I was taking it very easy, Im not sure what caused the strap to snap and create the whole fiasco. And dont worry about the wrestlefest, I actually have another four player cab that was formerly a wrestlefest. I was planning on turning it into simpsons or tmnt, but I think relocating the wrestlefest guts is the right thing to do at this point!

A general rule for myself is to always use two straps per game no matter how light the cab is. Two cabs = 4 straps for me no matter what.

OK-

First: there are better ways of busting up trashed cabinets than this.

Second: you don't need new straps, just put a knot in these and they'll last forever.

Third: you drive like ass

Wow, sorry to hear about this. Again, glad you and noone else was hurt in the mishap.

I have never lost a cabinet, but once slipped and dropped a Black Knight 2000 pin off my truck after returning from a pinball show. It fell about 3 feet, and was strapped to the handtruck, but it scared the crap out of me. To be honest, I was not so worried about the game as I was my friend who was helping me move the game. Personal safety is ALWAYS #1. We were fine, and the pin remained intact and working.

Hope you can save something from the experience.

Chris

I worked for an operator, we had two different route guys break the back window in their trucks with the same Gauntlet Legends machine, lol.

It has that strange control panel, and the way they put it on the truck, when they strapped it down the control panel went through the window. Twice.

I'll bet you had to change your underwear when you got back to the house. That refrigerator came through the window at you, lol.
