When I fire up my Gyruss the game comes on but the lettering for "player 1", "high score" and " player2" is only viewable at the lower half of the lettering. I moved the screen down to only have the same issue. Could this be a cap problem on the monitor? Or what???

I've removed the board set and it looks brand new but I will look at everything and hopefully You are correct. Thank you for your advice!

adjust the horizontal width coil.
if it everything is on screen but its not viewable, turn the flyback brightness up a tad.
maybe replace the flyback.

I will try to adjust coil but I did however adjust the rug adjustment and the brightness and was able to see the lettering but could not leave the brightness up. I'm also thinking I have a fly back issue as I'm getting an ear piercing noise coming from the unit. When I move a wire that is routed underneath the fly back the noise goes away for a bit of time. Would this indicate that my fly back is on it's way out and possibly be my problem?

Take a picture and post it.

It is probably the width coil, but there are many things that can be wrong or need adjustment on a monitor.

Its a k4900
When you get that whining noise, try adjusting one of those pots sticking
up (i think there are 4 or 5) see if it goes away

its possible the noise you hear is an HV leak known as corona. Ive experienced this couple times.

During this time of year especially when humidity is high. Its worth a shot to discharge the monitor and clean around the HV anode and the cup very well. It cost nothing but a little time. Just make sure your game is unplugged and the tube is properly discharged...
