Gyruss color adjustment ??

I have a very brief 'Service Manual. that says nothing about adjusting colors or any test screens. Does Gyruss have any service screens that can be used to properly adjust the colors?

If not, any suggestions on the best way to do the adjustment?

I don't believe there's a test screen with Gyruss. If you're just doing color... just do what I do when I'm in a hurry.

Turn the brightness up on the flyback juuuust a tad. Then adjust the R/G/B one at a time. Look at a black section of the screen and turn the red up until you see the red phosphor start to glow int he black sections... then turn it down until you don't see that red anymore. Do the same for the green and the blue. Then turn your flyback back down to where it was.

It's not 100% accurate sometimes, but when you can't do anything else it's quick and dirty and works pretty well most of the time.

That's just for color. For convergence and centering and screen slope'ng, there's really not much else you can do but put in a board that has a test mode. For Gyruss, you can put in a Time Pilot '84 board (same pinout), hold both starts when you turn the machine on and it'll go to the test mode. That will give you your grid.
