I picked up a Gyruss several months back and I finally got around to working on it and doing a "budget restore". Sorry, no OMGWTFBBQ videos ;). It was actually in really nice shape, just dirty. I basically just tore it completely apart and deep cleaned it. It was non-working, but it turned out that the switcher was dead, so after replacing that it sprang to life. I capped the monitor and repainted most of the metal pieces. I decided to go with a differnt color for the t-molding (a la Phet) - I thought about orange or even purple to go with the cpo (what's up with that anyway - purple seems out of place given the color scheme of the sideart) but ultimately went with red. I got a Centuri coin door decal from gamestencils.com (thanks prok!) and I think it looks sweet! The cpo is original and in fantastic shape after I took the magic eraser to it. The side art is nice, but the clear coat on the cab is flaking, which sucks because it makes the black areas look bad. Still want to add a hss kit, and I'll probably order a new piece of plexi to replace the bezel. I cleaned it, but there are still some hazy areas.

Do you have any "before" pics? Looks nice...fun game for sure. It was one of the first 3 games I picked up back in the day.

Ah...I jumped the gun there. Sorry about that! That looks much better! I still remember that Star Wars you cleaned up...man, that was a bit of work there!

Yeah, definitely MUCH less work than the SW cab!

Gyruss is a fun game, especially in a dedicated cab.

Nice work, looks great it's amazing when giving a game a good cleaning, new t-molding, and painting the metal parts makes a game pop again.

Nice job Greg. Your "before" pics look better than my Gyruss as it sits LOL

I REALLY like that t-molding you put on. It makes it pop and pulls out the sideart that much more. Thanks for sharing
