Does anyone know the values on the pots used in the following gun games?

Revolution X
Zombie Raid
Terminator 2

And any other gun games that use X and Y pots to determine the screen position for shooting?

I'm thinking that for the purpose of minimizing space I can repurpose some old analog joysticks with a couple of buttons on them to test those games. I just need to know what value pots to put in them.

Thanks!

When I fixed an Aliens Extermination, it used 5k pots. Basically what's used on pedals and some steering wheels, too...

Just checked a T2 manual, and it listed it as:

Potentiometer, 5KΩ, Long Life

Sweet :)

Now to mod this joystick to plug in to the game boards.

gun pots

I like your Idea, mod a joystick with a few different connectors on the end for trouble shooting. just ad a trigger button and a gernade/cd launcher button to complete the whole trouble shooting package.

What do the old analog joysticks use for pots, An Audio or Linear taper?

I'd assume they'd have to be linear, although I don't know for sure.

I'm going to be using an IBM PCjr stick which already has 2 buttons.

It'll be a matter of plugging it in and testing which will be odd since I won't be moving a gun but rather a small joystick. But, the end result will be the same: move a cursor around the screen and press a button to shoot or the other button to reload/fire a grenade/fire a CD depending on the game.

The JR uses a small .100 pin header to connect so that should be nice and easy to do with some perfboard and wires.

I'll be using some JAMMA filter boards from Atari for it. That's a good use for them! That way I can just plug in what I need to adapt and can build one for each type of game - Connections through JAMMA edge or connections through pin headers for the guns.

It'll be similar to hooking up trackballs for other games.
