I just got a nice Gun Fight cabinett, but there is something wrong with it.
When I got it did'nt power on, so I checked all fuses with a multimeter and found one that was broken. I replaced the fuse with a new one, but when I powered on the game, it blew. so something must obviously be wrong with the game.
It's the top fuse on the attached picture that blows everytime that i power on the game.
anyone got some idea on where I should start looking to fix this problem?

thanks in advance.

Disconnect everything except the power to the power board and see if it still blows. You want to isolate the component causing the problem. If it still blows....your fault is with the power board. My bet is when you connect the harness to the PCB the fuse blows and my guess is you have a shorted diode.

Let us know what you find.....

ok, I disconnected everything but the power board and the fuse blew as soon as I powerd on the game. I then removed the power board to take a closer look at it.
I found something that looked burned, and the other side of the board doesn't look good either.
advice please.

Well....there ya go. Bad power board...and you found a shorted diode. Everything looks fine and the damage is minimal. If you like to repair things which most of us do....pull the schematic....get the number for the diode and replace it...that should solve your problem...or at least a good place to start. If repair is not your thing....search for a new power board and I'll take the one that doesn't work! ;)

If you can't find a schematic...I can dig one out for you...

ah, thanks.
repairing it shouldn't be a problem, the problem will be finding the correct replacement part...

please do so, as i'm unable to find a schematic of the power board anywhere.

thanks in advance.

thanks!
I think I'm going blind, as I just looked at all Gun Fight pdf's at that site, but somehow missed that one.. scarry.

so, looking at that schematic IN4004 should be the correct diode, right?

Just for kicks locate the trace back to the edge connector and let me know what pin number it is. But yes...should be IN4004...

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

*By the way....any Radio Shack has them.....*....

thanks!

found two diodes that where broken, replaced those and now the game works perfectly!
thanks for the help.

all that's missing now is the display glass..
