Hello fellow KLOVers. I have a strange issue that I can't seem to figure out. I am in the middle of converting/restoring a Guilty Gear XX running on a NAOMI 1 GD-ROM system and I finally have all of the electronics up and running.

When I fire the game up, it comes up fine and plays the title and Anime sequence just fine but when it comes to the title screen it just sits there forever. I can hit start and its playable and all works fine. When it's Game Over it returns to the title screen again. It will not go into its normal CP vs CP demo sequence and I don't want it to burn the screen while its not being played. I have it set to freeplay but I put it on credit mode and it does the same thing. Any ideas?

EDIT: also in credit mode, it says there are 9 credits which probably came about sometime during testing all the connections and things and maybe the reason for it waiting on the title screen, but I would not think that would affect freeplay as well.

a lot of the sega games from that era seem to sit there waiting if they have credits or freeplay from when I was playing with them, sucks but dont think sega thought too much about screen burn as most naomi era games have terrible screen burn :(

if you clear out the credits so its back to zero does it do same thing?

Good question. I have tried playing with the pricing options to clear them out. I switched from a US BIOS to a JAP BIOS and the menus stayed English so I am afraid that if I do a factory reset, I'll loose the English menus as I don't see it listed as an option. I may just have to start a game, wait for it to die and rinse and repeat until all credits are gone.

yeah i would just play it till all gone and see then, should play okay then I think, I can load it up tomorrow and see on mine

You my friend where 100% correct. Who would have guessed that credits stored in credit mode would effect freeplay mode? So bizarre but that was it! THANK YOU!

Also, since you seem to know what your doing with NAOMI... It seems as though my DIMM battery is not working so I just took it out as I did not want it to leak all over everything in the future. How long does a working DIMM battery stay charged? Is it even worth hunting down a new one?

you can make a DIMM battery from old laptop batteries, friend made me some, I have new batteries in my NET Dimm in the naomi, and they last prob a week, the Dimm in my chihiro last about 2 days if the machine has been on a good while to charge it up, apart from the extra time to load the game, nothing else is affected

I'm quite certain every single Sega game ever made has been a cause of screen burn. pretty stupid, IMO. you'd think after about 20 years they'd have gotten their shit together. :p

well yeah by 2000 you would think they could at least alternate the placing of the INSERT COINS, or whatever but no, you still get monitors that have terrible burn :( shame as such nice monitors in these games

Yeah, I found this: http://www.sega-naomi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1278
and I may just do that. I'd love to spare the GD-ROM drive any way I can.
