I was just entering the information about my "new" Cadash PCB in my VAPS page and I ran into a problem with the serial number. There were two stickers with numbers on them and I entered in the number I thought was the serial number. About ten minutes later I found the real serial number engraved on the board itself and I had to go back and correct my entry.
This is not the first time this has happened. Many boards have multiple stickers on them and it is frequently very hard to discern which one is the board's actual serial number, as opposed to the number for a particular part or sub-assembly a daughter board or "Approved by Inspector 12". The result is many of the serial numbers I have input on my page are best guesses and may not turn out to be correct at all. When you have as many as five or six number stickers, engraved in numbers, or silk screened on numbers on one game PCB the odds of making a mistake are fairly high.
Is there a resource available to help users locate the serial number on various game boards?
