Just got my first cps2 kit. Has a and b board and manual and deluxe marquee. I want to find a nice big blue or q sound cab to put this in. Are these cps2 boards addictive to collect? Can I use a regular jamma cab to make sure this works

A regular jamma cab will be fine to test except without a kick harness you will be missing three buttons per player. If memory serves you will be missing the three kick buttons, punches will work.

I just got a big blue, one of my favorite cabinets hands down. same cp size as mortal kombat but the space between players is what kicks ass

Im hoping to get one soon , it will be my dedicated cps2 cab and will look good beside my street fighter and street fighter 2 hyper

I currently have 57 cps2 boards. I'm still missing a handful of games but I try to get different regions of each game for the different case colors. Been at it since 2003 or so.

I have three pcbs for sale as well:

X-men Vs. SF---phoenixed
Marvel Vs. SF---phoenixed
Super Street Fighter 2---battery (can phoenix for you or change battery)

Here is my for sale thread:

i always wanted a marvel vs capcom 2 arcade but after reading about the issue with the battery makes me not wanna jump the gun. is phonixing the board bad? as in if doing this means never to worrie about the battery problem again? i may wanna get a m vs c2 if cheap since it would be a project. maybe ill try to make an arcade totally out of plexi lol. would be cool.

mvc2 is naomi not cps2. mvc1 is cps2! and the set up is around 400, which is what I just paid yesterday for it lol.

mvc1 is around 100 for a phoenixed board and you dont have to worry about the battery.

I've got 4 yellow boards:

Capcom Sports Club--pretty rare
X-men Vs. SF --so-so
Marvel SH Vs. SF --so-so
Super Street Fighter 2: Tournament Battle ---Uber rare!

That Cyberbots has been listed for awhile. I just don't want to pay that much for it.

Hyper Anny is pretty rare. They go for between 3 and 5 hundred for an original. It is bootlegged about as much as Progear so you need to ask for pcb pics if you plan on buying one. Its an ok game. Not great.

can I ask why you say its ok? I want it since its technically every version of sf2. I used to play it all the time on the xbox anniversary collection. I never really looked into it to much but are you saying that since its not really a true hardware version of champ edition if both players picked original characters?

I have a confession to make. My local TILT arcade had a MvC2 for sale for $295 around Christmas time. I stripped out the Naomi system and sold it for $250. I promptly installed soft15khz-enabled MAME with Mala and found a Naomi emulator for MvC2. I felt a little guilty selling the NAOMI system, but in the end, if that's the only game the machine could play, I wouldn't even keep it. As it is, the machine is getting play every day. On the rare occasion we fire up MvC2, sessions are short. The graphics are great, but the gameplay seems that whoever buttonmashes harder wins. I'm pretty good at the King of Fighter series and I just can't seem to get the hang of MvC2. I've won seven or eight matches in a row against the computer and still didn't feel much accomplishment.

I'll keep trying.

Everyones different! I am a huge fan of the vs. series and still play mvc2 to this day since its release. Theres a huge community for it as well and lots of people appeal to the "button mashing gameplay". It is a truly deep and technically game that takes a longgg time to become good at it.

The biggest problem is the game needs a huge introduction. My brother in law came over yesterday and we played for a little bit on xbox and he hasnt played it since way back when it first hit the arcade, he didnt remember anything about it and trying to explain the basics he started to get crossed eyed and tilt his head a little bit LOL.
