Guaging Interest: Gauntlet Legends + Dark Legacy Combo kit

I want to make a PCB that holds both Legends and Dark Legacy that will connect to the Vegas PCB (must be vegas 777 not Durango middle board). You will be able to pick which game to boot up with only one board. Machine must be powered down to switch.

Pending price I'd be interested. I have been tempted many times to convert my Dark Legacy back to a Legends as I played the legends a lot back when I was younger.

Depending on price I'd be interested...

I've thought on a few occasions how cool it'd be to have an all-in-one Gauntlet machine. With this all I'd need is a simple JAMMA switcher to use with my G1/2 board set and that could be a reality (provided a standard res monitor is involved, that is).

Depending on price I might be interested also. Would this have a single hard drive and just the ROM's be picked at boot time? I am confused at what you mean by being able to choose at boot but only switchable when powered off.

I have been debating on if I want to get a Dark Legacy upgrade to be able to make my Gauntlet legends switchable so something that made it where I did not have to be switching out ROMs to change games would be a plus. Of course would depend on price.

Right now it will be two harddrives connected to it, since I have had issues with compact flash and Dark Legacy. Else It would just be two CF cards and 4 sockets holding the boot roms and security chips.

I have this pretty much done, but the price right now looks like 100.00 shipped in the US.
It would come with the a loaded PCB, the PCB will have either GDL or Legends security chip, boot rom + hardrdive already installed depending on which game you already have, You would then remove the two chips and harddrive from your board and install them into the new adapter PCB, the new adapter PCB will plug into the boot rom socket and it will have a harness that connects to the security chip socket. Then there will be a switch that is connected to several feet of wire so you can mount the switch somewhere you can get to it and switch between the two games . The price can be cheaper if you have your own harddrives and chips. The board itself with no chips or harddrives included will be
45.00 shipped. Thats only becuase Im ording three at a time, if I order several the price goes down of course. So If there is enough need for a preorer to get the price down then Im good with that, I will be ordering the PCB next week for testing purposes though to make sure all is good before anything else is done.

$45 is definitely reasonable and has me very interested now. Let me ask you this: I have a legends board set that I bought the dark legacy kit for. It came with a drive and a single chip if I remember correctly. I still have the chip/drive for legends. So given what I have would that be enough to get your "naked" board working as you describe or would I need any other chips?

Thanks,
-Rob

It should work fine on a std res monitor, it uses the original boardset and the only thing this changes is the boot rom and security rom, and it still uses the original chips for it. Dip switch settings shall let you run on std res.
