I've had a couple of payphones in storage for awhile, and would like to get one working.

This is a GTE housing that has a 120B board in it. I have it set on the ST settings, set for $0.00 to make a call.

I pick up the receiver, get dialtone, can dial out and connect. I can hear the party on the other end, but they can't hear me.

If I short out the coin relays, they can hear the the tones on the line, just not me talking. The headset has 2 white, a red and black wires... White are connected to the green and yellow connections, with the red and black wires going to their respective colors. I have another handset with all 4 colors, but when connected it with the respective colors, I didn't even hear dialtone.

I'm sure it's something simple, I'm just not able to figure it out, and searching the internet has not helped. :-(

Hoping someone smarter than me has some ideas, as I would like to get it working!

Thanks!

Dennis

try hooking the 2 white wires to the red and green (not black).

if that don't work, try reversing them(ring vs tip). here's some photos to assist...

Payphones are discussed in this forum:

Trade Stimulators, Vending, Coin-op Scales, and Misc. Machines

I've got many threads there on payphone repairs.
