GTE Payphone Booths (Seattle Area) Guaging Interest

I'm with Wolfeel - very tempting... I'd really like to have one with doors though and and a phone. I'll have to look to see how far away you are...

Yeah, I would be in for one with a door as well.

Let me know if you decide to go get one - I'd like one too!

I am heading up there at the end of the month. I might be able to help you.

I'll have a better feel for what's available after Monday when I pick up the first three phone booths. Hopefully there will be a few more in good complete ones that I can set aside for you out of towners. :)

Just picked the booths up today. Unfortunately they were totally out of payphones, but he said they would get more in soon. He had warned me it was first come, first served last Thursday, but I just wasn't able to get there until today.

On the up side, the phone booths are in great condition. They are selling fast and I only have one left. Pic's of the last booth are below. Asking $150 and will include a spare fluorescent bulb.

I'm going to make another trip in a couple weeks for the payphones.

FSH Communications is the company that purchased the payphone division of Qwest a few years ago. They operate the Qwest branded payphones still on location. I suppose if a person wanted a phone booth or enclosure, they could also contact FSH Comunications and see what they have for sale/give away/scrap in your locality.

I got mine..Its in beautifull conditon all dried off sitting in my garage waiting for instl....Thankyou so much for doing the legwork. Anyone else wants one you should pick one up he is a great seller and an asset to the Arcade collecting Community. Thanks again...Dave

Its the same as the one he has in the picture,I got it from him. I was just curious if there is a serial number that states where it was made, what year, etc His does have a painted phone on the blue glass by the door openeing that mine doesnt have but thats the only difference.....Thankyou....Dave

Probably a Benner-Nawman booth from the 1990's. Might be a Phillips & Brooks as they look similar to Benner-Nawman. It appears the payphone mounts at handicap height and the door opening is ADA wheelchair compliant. That means the booth was definitely manufactured after 1989.

Sadly, Benner-Nawman exited the phone booth business completely several years ago:

That's too bad because their full-sized phone booths were considered the "Rolls-Royce" of the phone booth industry.

Phillips & Brooks bought out their competitors, Gladwin and later ADCO. Now Phillips & Brooks no longer makes full-sized phone booths, just the smaller "walk up" and "walk-in" style enclosures.

I used to have all their catalogs, but several years ago I threw the catalogs away because I need the space in my cramped apartment. The catalogs had pictures, specs, and installation instructions for all their phone booths.

Pictures and prices of refurbished Western Electric booths are here:

Dave's booth has the phone mount at standard height. The booth that's still for sale has a lower mounted handicap phone mount. I think the height is adjustable though.

Dave also got a really cool 3 sided light up payphone sign that mounts to the roof. I'm hoping to see pics of the whole thing lit up when it's ready. :)

Actually mine was mounted at handicap heigth. See that screw above the mount in the picture I removed it and moved mine up to normal heigth now its golden.

Well guess what the 3 sided light is all mounted, sparkling clean ,rewired the entire booth, new lights and looks sweet. I'll try my hand again at posting pictures tonight.I love the green plexi in the roof that lights up little scallops all the way around on the roof edge. The 3 sided light up topper on top is sealled to the top so water wont penetrate and self sealing fasteners also hold it on.It looks sweet!!!!! I also have a line on 2 different phones.I like this booth so much now i would just like to find a set of doors and attatch them to it,if thats possible and call it a day. This week I plan to make a form and poor a cement pad with bolts to fasten it to....Later....Dave
