GTE Payphone Booths (Seattle Area) Guaging Interest

Hi all,

I've found a small stash of retired GTE payphone booths. They are Western Electric style (also referred to as Superman phone booths) and may or may not have accordion folding doors.

Is there any interest in the arcade community to buy these for your game rooms? They would sell for around $150 without phone and $200 with phone.

These are rugged and totally water proof. They would be sold in the rough in the shape they were in when pulled from service. I would only sell ones with good glass, though they may need to be repaired electrically. Last one I purchased had bad ballasts for the florescent lights. Other than that they run off of 110v and the payphones can be majiggered to run without coins.

I couldn't ship, but could palletize them if out of towners wanted to arrange delivery.

Again, this is preliminary. I haven't purchased them yet and hate to do so if there is no interest in them.

UPDATE: I have one booth for sale. Price is $150 and pictures can be found here.

I would buy them if someone is trying to sell them. Qwest down here in Portland will give them to you.
Seriously? That's a great deal!

The GTE booths I found aren't free unfortunately.

Here's a photo of my booth. These ones look the same. It's the one on the right.

If you wasn't so far I would be interested. Been looking for one for along time. Just don't know if o can get downstairs.

Good luck on sale

When cleaned up and working, these full-sized booths are very impressive. Plus they are rated for outdoor/wet locations if desired. Some would have the folding doors and some would not.

The two most popular manufacturers of these were Phillips & Brooks and Benner-Nawman. Brand new these booths sell for over $2000.

i would like to buy one....my coworker would buy one but we are toooo far away in pittsburgh, pa
Sounds like a good excuse for a road trip! lol

I think I can get unused (AKA brand new) payphones for those of you that want a phone to go with it.

Verizon is pulling pretty much all their phone booths now that everyone has a cell phone. These are a piece of American history and are disappearing fast.

here is your

here is your only damn if I was closer message..
Ok, and not broke.
sounds cool.
pics?
curious to see and drool.

Seems to be enough interest in these, including a phone call from Dave that practically threatened my life if I didn't get the booths. ;) I'm going to work out the deal with the seller and see if I can get them some time around the beginning of the week. Pic's to follow.

If anyone else local is serious about getting one, this is a good time to chime in. I'm doing a first come first to pick basis. So let me know now and you can decide if you want one after the pictures are up.

Got an appointment set to meet the seller on Monday. He said some of them don't have doors due to the 1988 Americans With Disabilities Act. I guess the doors were trouble for some people.

Also he said he could sell the phones separately as well. So I'll buy a couple of extra of those as well.
