My GT4 complete started randomly locking up. Sometimes it just freezes with a clean image, and other times the video is garbled.

I've verified the power supply is good (swapped in a good spare) and the problem remains. Next thing to check is the hard drive. Unfortunately I didn't get an image of the drive while the game was working normally. Anyone have a known good chd image I can use to see if that's the problem?

No one can help?

I hate the thought of buying a GT4 complete drive and then finding out my drive was fine and the problem was with the board/video card.

Just in case anyone with a similar problem stumbles across this down the road I thought I'd update my findings. I picked up a GT4 complete hard drive to see if this would cure the problem - it didn't. So now I'm looking at the video card and/or board. Thinking it's the video card I rigged up a 12v fan to blow directly on the video card ram. Power up the game and now it runs without lock ups, so the video card is the problem. I then put heat sinks on the video ram as more of a "semi-permanent" solution and so far so good.

I suspect sooner or later this card is going to completely fail, so I'm in the market for a video card. Is there anything special about these cards or will any PC 3dfx voodoo3 3000 PCI card work (I have the red board if it matters)?

Ok, because I like talking to myself I thought I would follow up. I picked up a PC-based 3dfx voodoo3 3000 PCI with 16MB ram and gave it a try. Worked perfect in my red board.
