Hi, all. I recently found out the hard way (read: got zapped) that my Space Odyssey pinball has a bad (or maybe no) ground on it. I've had the thing forever and I don't want to get rid of it. Any ideas on how to fix it? It's a 70s machine and still has the old two-prong plug. Thanks.

Dave

get a 3 prong cord and replace the two prong and ground the new green wire to the transformer nount. I also check the machine over you should get zapped and tells me you have something grounded to the frame and could do more damage than just a shock.

I completed the curcuit when I touched both the pinball and the Coke machine. Thanks for the advice. Can I pick up one of these cords at Lowes?

Personally, I would retrofit it with a IEC C14 inlet so I could use it with a regulation power cord, and remove the cord for moving/transportation.

sometimes just grounding the transformer isnt enough, you need to run the ground to the coin door and lock bar mechanism too.

I'd watch this too is that a 24V or a 50V transformer??? I haven't torn my Space Mission down yet to refurb. 50V could be fatal.

I agree something is grounded to the metal...

Is your cord three prong? Or was it three and someone ripped the ground off?
