I have a Gridiron fight that had terrible trackballs and wouldn't play right. I bought some rebuilt happ trackballs and tried to move the rollers but they wouldn't quite fit in the original housing so I moved the optical boards and translucent balls to the new Happ housing. The balls spin fairly smooth now but on the first player I can only move left and right (no up or down) and the second player I can only move right and down. Rolling the ball up also makes player 2 run down.

I am not sure if I can move the Happ optic boards to the Gridiron and splice the wires or not.

Does anyone know what kind of trackballs the original ones were? THey have a Happ looking housing so I had assumed they were Atari. The rollers from the Happ are a tiny bit too long to fit in.

Thanks

Bump. Any help with this? I can't find out what trackballs these are. I am going to put in full new Happ's but a pinout would be nice. I can identify the +5 and GND but the others are a guess.

The plastic housing looks like a Happ housing and has RODEX molded into it.

The optical board has 5902 AMFT PHOTO on it.

HELP Please!

Bump.

I tried putting in the full Happ trackballs with the Happ optical sensors but can't get them to respond much at all. The closest I have gotten was to have the guy wiggling a bit but no movement.

Any help with the pinout for the original optical sensors would be great. If anyone has any of these sensors around, I will buy them off of you.

Thanks

I have one or two NOS trackball assemblies for gridiron in storage.
I'll try and pull them out next time I'm down there. That would give you the option of buying the correct assembly.

Thanks Mylstar but just out of my price range for this project.

If anyone has any optical sensors for sale from the original Gridiron trackballs please let me know. I will consider buying whole trackballs but am looking to spend less than $50.

If anyone has any advice on how I can test these, pinouts, replacement optical sensor etc. I am all ears. I would really like to get this thing out of my garage and this is all that is left to do.

Thanks
