I have a Greyhound crane and the claw will not drop. The motor is trying to release. I hear it click. But it doesn't drop. Where should I start? I am not a tech by any means so be easy on me. PLEASE advise

Thanks

J.J.

those are well known for solder and molex connector issues on the pcbs, as well as broken wires in that metal spring thing going up to the trolley.

So do some basic check overs and let us know how it goes.

iirc theres also a switch attached to a plate that the claw hits once its in the full up position. make sure that switch is working.

Cleaned all connectors to PCB and tightend everything up real good. Seems to be working better but still hangs up every now and then. Much better though. Thanks for the advice Cadillacman!!!!

could be a mechanical problem too but from the sounds of it you are on the right track.

keep playing, it might work itself out the more you play it

Greyhound crane parts and service are now here:

Coast to Coast offering repair and parts for cranes

Coast to Coast Entertainment is offering repair services and parts service for United Textile Cranes, Treasure Chest Cranes, Greyhound Cranes, and United Cranes. The company is reportedly equipped to service virtually any crane manufactured by Greyhound from the mid '80s and United Textile from the late '90s. The company will be offering component level repair on almost all of the main Personal Computer Board (PCB). If the PCB is not repairable, the company will offer a flat rate exchange.

In addition, it will make repair service for any claw assembly for all of the operable crane models. The company has acquired a large amount of spare parts. If there is a need for any parts at all, customers are invited to contact the company and inquire about its stock. It can supply claw assembly motors, power supply, and most other parts to keep the games up and running. For more information, call (800)224-1717; e-mail ([email protected]); Web (www.cranemachines.com).

You didn't specify which crane you have but from experience
it's usually a bad gearbox on the drop motor.

Also gotta watch out since a lot of their motors were 110V AC !
