Greetings, I am new and have a favor to ask

Lord knows I have wanted this game since I was a kid. Last time I played it in the "captain's chair" was 1986, the last week in July at age 14.

Wundercade, you did good with that Star Wars/Trek find. I'm sure if Nathan was serious about wanting a cockpit Star Trek he'd consider it instead of going with a Polaris cabinet (ugh). C'mon Nathan, don't wuss out on us....you know the cockpit is how the game should be played, and not with a Taito cabinet.

You know this to be true, don't fight it. :D

Hah! Don't mess with Klovers...we git er dun!

.

Nathan, that guy will be very lucky to get half his asking price. Most likely he'll get less.

First rule of this hobby: it doesn't make any difference how much money you have sunk into a game -- it'll only sell for what it's worth.

That guy hasn't learned that lesson yet.

That doesn't even have the canopy either for the $2K. That thing isn't going anywhere fast at that price.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help and fast response. You all are great! I will continue looking but in the meantime I will call Dale for measurements. If you all see or hear of any deals let me know! Thanks again.

Well, we will all think you're crazy, but if you build it out of wood, make sure to get tons of pictures, and post your progress...

Good Luck.

When one cannot afford the upfront purchase of an original cabinet, much less find one in the area (I will keep looking), the only other way to obtain one is to begin construction, within one's means to do so. Even MDF has gone through the roof. Again I will keep looking for a unit, but with a very sick mother to watch out for I can only do so much.

Building yourself does not always mean "cheaper".

+ eleventy thousand.

There are many members here who can attest to this. I did not even build one from scratch. I just started out with an empty Daytona cab, and I ended up spending more than I would have had I purchased a decent working one. BTW, my game is still not done, which means there's more money to spend yet.

Be very wary of building one to save money...

Late to the show, but I have these two little bits of advice for you, Nathan...

1. Do not sell yourself short on your dream. You want a captain's chair version. Get a captain's chair version. ;)

2. You can and will find a screaming good deal near you for a shitload less than building it yourself, and it will be hella cheaper. Trust all of us on this one. I concur to the eleventy thousand thinking!

There are people on here that travel from state-to-state all the time. You might find a hookup getting a game closer to ya... Or, just keep scouring here and craigslist and networking contacts. Don't give up. Srsly.

Don't look and you will find it...............

I have better luck not looking for what I am wanting...it might take days, weeks, even months, but somehow I happen to stumble across what I am looking later when I least expect it..

Need Help

Cheap, Fast, and Good... Pick any two. ;)
