I was just out to GPE to look for a couple of parts and there is an announcement that GPE is closed temporarily due to health issues. If anybody knows Ed personally, please pass on my best wishes. Whatever the problems are, let's hope they are minor and are resolved quickly.

Ed is one of the good guys that support us with hard to find parts (and some not too hard to find parts) but always with fast shipping and great customer support.

Ed posted elsewhere(in another thread) about going through a bout of kidney stones.

I started a thread in the pinball section

Ed posted that he had kidney stones, but it sounds like he is on the mend.

Yeah, Ed's getting back in the swing of things, I had an order out with him about a week, and he responded yesterday with a quote. He doesn't usually work weekends, but he's so backed up I guess he's really trying to get caught up.

BEST PLACE to get small components in my opinion.

GPE is "temporarily closed" again. Hope things are ok.

I hope so too. I've been waiting for an order for a couple weeks, but family first. My order isn't urgent by any means.

He posted awhile back he was going to close it for awhile because he's burnt out. I don't think it has anything to do with health. He works a full time job and then the electronics on the side and has been for many many years....

Yeah, he does this every once in a while, either from life intervening, or just when he gets too backed up. I completely respect it. He always comes back.

The day he *doesn't* will be a sad one for the hobby. He provides a great service, legit parts, and his site is awesome, really well designed. If you don't know GPE or have never ordered from Ed, you should definitely try him for components. He puts a lot of care into everything.

Support those too-rare local stores while you still can. Wish I could go back to ACK in Atlanta for parts, but alas…

My order status changed to "in progress" a week ago and hasn't changed since (I'm not upset at all since I figured fulfillment might be slow). I'll try to remember to post here once I get notified of shipment. I too like to support the "little guy", even if it means paying a bit more or waiting a bit longer. Hoping GPE keeps going for a long time to come.

From Pinside 10 minutes ago:

"I just talked with Ed and he gave me permission to post this. Ed unexpectedly lost his wife Denise last week. As you can imagine, he has been trying to deal with this for now, and reopening his store will have to wait a bit. He asks for your patience at this time."

I got a notification of shipment just now. I figured it would take longer so it was surprising to me. That said, I was probably at the top of the queue when things happened so my guess is catching back up with other orders and new ones will take longer than it normally would.
