Gravitar to Black Widow Conversion - Have PCB, CP, now what?

Just bought a Black Widow PCB and CP (and marquee) and now I am wondering what I'll need as far as wiring goes. This is all going into a Gravitar cab. The CP I won on Ebay doesn't have any kind of wiring on it. So, can someone point me in the right direction regarding how this all gets wired? Do I just modify the Gravitar harness? Or can the control panel plug directly into it and then I am done?

I read the retrofit manual and it's not making any sense to me. I is stoopid.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Been a while since I did this and have since done a Space Duel which was easier, but I'll try to help out. You'll need some wire, a bunch of crimp terminals for the joystick and start button connections and a few edge connector crimp terminals for adding board inputs.

Basically you have to create your CP wiring harness using your conversion manual to figure out which inputs transfer over from Gravitar (ie which buttons become which joystick inputs). If I recall correctly, the Start buttons are the same in this conversion. Once you're done with the ones that already exist in the main game harness, you'll have to add three more wires all the way back to the game board. This is the hardest part of the whole conversion. The manual will tell you which pins on the main board harness connector you'll have to populate. When I did mine, I decided to use a larger CP harness connector so I could route all the wires through that connector.

Lemme know if this helps at all.

The original conversion manual assumes you have a conversion harness. Below are links to the original schematics. As you can see, the BW harness had two separate CP connectors. As I remembered, the start buttons are the same. You'll have to trace the colors from the edge connectors on the Gravitar schematic to figure out what color corresponds to the BW schematic. Not too hard, just time consuming:

Check page 2 on that BW manual. It shows the mapping for the joystick there.

I did this exact thing you are doing, you just need to swap a few wires out of the main harness and move them around, and then add a few. That should be the only changes you need to make, a few wires for the joysticks.

Thanks guys, I think I really get what to do now.

If I understand this right... This is what I will do... I will unplug all the wires from the buttons on the Gravitar control panel and plug them into correct location on the BW joysticks and 1p 2p buttons. Then, I will run 4 new wires from the CP (one of the joysticks) to the PCB edge connector. Right?

Yep. Use the schematics if you get confused. Follow the wire colors and you'll be fine. You don't need to move any of the power wires, so you shouldn't be able to break it... heh heh.
