See the smearing or shadow to the right of the letters? What causes this? I tried to adjust it out but it's not working.

Has this monitor been rebuilt? I've seen people report fixing this with a cap kit...

What kind of monitor is this? Is it a K7000? Cap kits don't include the three 1uf bipolar caps on the video input circuit. If you're getting smearing like that, there's something faulty in the video circuits causing the smear/shadow effect. Usually a bad cap. If it was just a color smear though, then I'd suspect the tube - if you crank up the gain too far on one gun you'll get a color overdriven to the point of smearing.

Yes,k7000 med res. Do you know where these three caps are located IE:C13,C10 etc??

IIRC, they're C4, C5 and C6. I think they are either 1uf or 10uf, and they're bipolar (no polarity markings). They're all right next to each other, near the video chip, IC1.

Also, did you change the cap on the neckboard? There is one there on some versions of the K7000 that can cause video issues too, and it's often overlooked.

Also, I can't remember what other caps aren't changed in most kits - but have C10, 11, 12 and 13 been changed? Those are also right on IC1 and could theoretically affect the picture.

I've never worked on a medium resolution K7000 though, so I can't say for sure that the above applies to monitor.

Have you used another board or monitor to make sure it's a monitor issue?

I had a Namco Classics Vol 1 here that would do that and it was the board. Replacing some leaking caps in the video circuit fixed it.

Also, on the med-res versions there is a small board on top the wall next to the flyback that has a few caps not usually included in the kit. You should replace them if you haven't, as they can affect the image.
