My high scores are corrupted. I am guessing that the battery that the previous owner has wired in is dead. What would be a good replacement for this?

bump to the top, still looking

IIRC, I had drilled an extra hole in the board, and used one existing hole for the battery and mounted a coin-cell holder.

A standard lithium cell from a PC motherboard will hold scores for a year.

2032 lithium is fine but You need to use a blocking diode. Without the diode the battery will charge and explode. The 5101 ram could also be bad. Your picture shows a memory capacitor in use.

If I put a new ram in, will the scores clear automatically of do I need to reset it with dips. I am not familiar with this set up? I would rather change that first before messing with the battery.
