I aquired this Gran Trak 10 last October with a dead monitor, dead board (beyond repair), dead transformer, hacked harness and just plain dirty cab. With the NW pinball and Gameroom show coming up in June I thought this would be a nice game to have for people to play.

So I have 5 months to try and get it done. I have several things to do to get it working and looking respectable. It's great having people local that can help with parts and testing so as long as it doesn't take a crap ton of cash I'm on my way......

Things to do in no particular order...

1.Aquire working boardset (Lemans would also be ok for now) -------------DONE!
2.Clean up cab thouroughly ---------------------------------------------Just a little left
3.Build new harness -----------------------------------------------------DONE!
4.New back door---------------------------------------------------------DONE!
5.Get monitor working ------------------------------------------------- DONE!!!!!!!!!!!
6.Repaint sideart ------------------------------------------------------In Progress
7.Refurbish coin door---------------------------------------------------DONE!!!!!
8.New T-molding--------------------------------------------------------Got it, just have to install
9.Aquire new transformer----------------------------------------------- - DONE!!!!!
10.Rewire A/C as well -------------------------------------------------- DONE!!!!
11.Clean up and paint pedal area. --------------------------------------- DONE!!!!!
12 removespray paint from front laminate. --------------------------------- DONE!
13.Clean and polish plexiglass ------------------------------------------- DONE!!!!!
14.Find a copy or make a scorecard for the bezel -------------------------- DONE!!!!!
15.New speaker -------------------------------------------------------- DONE!!!
16.clean and rewire control panel --------------------------------------- DONE!!!!

I'm sure I'll have more to add to the list. I'm starting on the parts that take little money first such as all the cleaning, polishing repainting etc. Here's a few pics at the start.

If that's the one from that guy in Enumclaw, I'm glad it got a good home. I took one look at it and said "too much work for me". I wouldn't know what to do with it anyway.

That thing will be awesome when you finish it. Congrats!!

Looks like a big project. I'll be cheering for you though! Early Atari cabinets are the shiz.

Thanks. I admit it's more work than I thought. I finished more of the harness and broke down the control panel. It has some small nicks and scratches but the printing is in good shape. With the help of a Magic Eraser it looks much better. Pics soon. - Barry

Yep, it's the one. I had hesitations about buying it. I knew the board was dead and the wiring hacked so I had a challenge ahead, but the cab is solid with a few minor chips so I figured I'd give it a shot. - Barry

Progress made. I finally have a working PCB. I picked up a Gran Trak 10 and Lemans boards off ebay as untested. I took them over to Blinddog's place so he could test them in his trak 10. The Gran Trak board works!!!!!!!! The Lemans comes up, but won't start. 1 out of 2 isn't bad. One step closer to a working game. Thanks again Matt - Barry

Sweet, sounds good so far. Magic Eraser really is magic... Used it on my Swimmer CPO and it came out pristine!

Made some more progress and I have signs of LIFE! I've completed most of the harness and got the transformer wired up and I have lights. This is the first time any of the machine has worked since I got it. - Barry

I'v been slowly plugging away at this game and it's going well so far. I got the control panel all cleaned up. I aquired a new start button bezel, painted the atari logo and the shift indicators, and rewired it. - Barry

Here's a before and after shot.

Also cleaned and polished the plexi and made a new scorecard. There are some imperfections still, but it looks great for a 36 year old bezel. - Barry

Some before and after shots.

Huge progress tonight. When I had the monitor tested at Blinddog's place in October I had raster but that's it. I read through Atari's THE BOOK and found some hints as to what may be wrong with it. I got some transistors (thanks Dokert!), installed them and a cap kit and I got this............. I have my lemans board in there for testing, -Barry

Work's been a little slow on this one. I have it mostly cleaned. I need to do some painting, so I'm waiting for a little warmer weather. I did get the back all filled in nice and today I rebuilt the back door, just need to prime and paint it. - Barry

Before and after shots.

Started repainting the graphics. I tried taping and rolling, but couldn't get a nice tape edge. I started over with spray paint and it looks much better. The 0 is off a bit, but way better than before. - Barry

More progress. I got the coin door all spruced up and installed. It's not the original door, but it's the one that was on it when I got it and it looks fine on it. I wanted freeplay and since there isn't a setting on the board I made a small bracket to mount a micro switch behind the silver button to add credits. The mechs aren't wired up yet, but it finally looks like a complete game......... - Barry
