I am not a nutty collector by any means and there are only really a few games that I would consider "grails" and Tempest is one of em (Escape from the Planet of Robot monsters is one too, finally got one). I found a Tempest CT on ebay about 2 years ago and jumped on it. It was non-working but was in decent shape and complete minus the top glass. I missed a few top glass auctions by a day or 2 and a few to being across the country but finally got lucky when Quarter Arcade had an empty Tempest CT cab with top glass and a really solid Star Wars cab for $50 one afternoon about a year ago. It gave me an excuse to drive up there and get a few other parts for games that I was working on, most randomly a DJ Boy marquee that Anthony was amazed anyone even wanted. He not only gave me those 2 cabs for $50 but threw in a masushita monitor that works great and some other cab bits I needed. Absolutely awesome dude.
Well the empty cabs sat in storage until last month when we switched out our spaces and I nabbed the top glass to go on mt CT which is in my basement now. Layed it in place today and really felt great just looking at it.
A few shout outs for getting this guy working: Ant at Q arcade, copious for holding another top glass for me for a long while and vector junkie for help with the wg6100.
I just need some t-molding and this beast is ready to go on location. SIKE.
