Gottlieb system 80b boot issues, rom links ?

The game is Bad Girls and it came without a cpu board. I have a spare possibly good board so I programmed up a 2764 from ROM1, however my stupid Willem knockoff will not program a 2732. I ended up doubling up the image and burning it to a 2764, copy/b image1.rom + image1.rom image1x2.rom, seemed to work fine.
Then I mounted the the chip with the 4 pins hanging out the top of the socket as per here http://the944.com/88_to_86.htm and tied 26,27 and 28 together.
Machine booted but said rom2 missing, found out it needed strapping differently so followed instructions here http://pinwiki.net/index.php?title=...no#Using_a_2732_game_PROM_in_a_System_80B_MPU
Now it will boot but seems to get stuck, no attract mode etc, but it will tell me if the slam switch and any of the tilt switches are closed/open.
Where do I go from here ?

First I will acknowledge that most of that technical stuff makes no sense to me....but..

I've been fighting a similar issue with an Arena. I can't get it to boot without the original Gottlieb Prom2 installed in the proper socket. I have purchased 2 replacement Prom2's from 2 different vendors. If either of those replacement proms are installed, my machine acts just like yours. Recognizes slam/tilt switch states, but won't do anything else.

If I install the original Prom2 from my original Gtb. board, it boots into attract mode just fine and mostly plays a game (have another issue I am fighting now though which has been suggested may be a problem with the game prom - that's why I bought new ones).

I realize we are going about things a different way, but the outcomes seem the same. There is a lengthy thread on rgp "gottlieb 80b AIJ5 woes" if you want to look at that to see what I went through.

Wish I could offer more, I will be interested to hear what you determine. Good luck.

I found your thread there, very interesting.
I wounder if it is something to do with where the rom images come from ?
I dug mine out of pinmame, could they have been "adjusted" in some way that stops them working in hardware ?
What chips did you get, 2716, 2732 or 25xx series chips ?
I have a guy close by who can program the 2732 so I am off to see him tonight.

I changed prom2 in pinmame to my doubled up version that fits a 2764 and zipped it back up.
Although a size mis match was reported, the emulated game still fired up and ran.
I am going to try a few other things, remove prom2, swap it for another game 2 prom from a different machine etc.
See if I can actually break it in the same way as the real thing lol

So I got a 2732 programmed tonight, thanks to my mate John, but the machine still does the exact same thing.
I put my Genesis board in and it does boot and run, so power, driver board etc are fine.
Guess I have a board fault.
Can someone confirm the strapping info for putting a 2732 into prom2 location....did Gottlieb really have it wrong ?

BTW, I put an Excalibar prom2 into the Bad Girls prom file in pinmame and whilst it will boot, the first high score is displayed and then it gets confused, plus no attract mode lamps.
Funny stuff.

Bad Cats is a Williams title.

I assume you meant Bad Girls...

Bad Girls

Yes, I do mean Bad Girls lol.
I got it running last night, turns out the info I got from Pinwiki for the jumpers is wrong.
The AB15 signal comes from pin 35 of the TC1 header, NOT pin 6.
I see several people out there with booting issues on these later System 80b machines, I bet they are all jumper issues around Prom2.

My "should be working" board is still acting up though, locking up and still not running the whole program properly, not sure if there are further jumper errors or if the board is faulty, it has seen alot of repairs done in the past.
