gottlieb system 80 repair parts/kit

Sorry for not searching or adding useful links, im limited to cell phone internet right now which makes stuff harder.

Was looking at getting a buncha random transistors etc stockkeck up to repair some system 80 games. I was kinda confused by the list of parts from pinrepair .com marvins website
Some are listed multiple times, meaning it will say one is for driver board and it will say another is, ok some small some big on driver board, but then 2 listed for under playfield power resistor? What's that mean?
Then in another case it says use a or b (a substitute) but on marco specialtes website they look completely different, one looks like that predriver/lamp driver style, and the other appears to be that nickel sized looking like a cowboy hat style.

Ok feel free to poke fun at my descriptions, so long as you add useful content please.
Any sys 80 repair experts?

Shhhh!!!! I'm doing this on company time!

Great Plains Electronics has much of what you need especially connectors, contacts, diodes, transistors and standard logic. These can be found at:
www.greatplainselectronics.com

I don't agree with pinrepair's choice of header -- 26-48-1121. Instead it costs less to go with a smaller quantity of longer ones such as the 26-48-1241.

Plugs - Pain to cut your own. Buy the right length to save some headache. Buying one length really won't save you much money as compared to the hassle of cutting them. You can find these at GPE as well -- instead of 09-50-3121, go with the proper size CS156 series.

You can also find most of the hard to find Gottlieb edge connectors there as well.

Everything else on the pinrepair list is fine... but I prefer to go with 1N4148 switching diodes on the switch matrix instead of 1N4004 rectifiers. Doesn't really matter, just comes down to personal choice.

Most of this stuff can be found at GPE. But, you won't find any 6502's or 6532's... been sold out forever.
You can often find these and several handy component kits at Todd's website here:

Todd's a great guy to deal with.

Again sorry for npot searching im just on my phone,

Those 2 you mentioned, what are they used for in haunted house, blackhole, and mars god of war? What are suitable replacements?
Thanks!
Appreciate it!

I head system 80s sound boards are pretty sensitive to voltage level.

Could this be why my voice/sound fx are for low tone and reeeealy slow sounding? Is there an adjustment pot?

If you need to replace the headers on your existing power supply (not likely) then you would need headers such as 26-48-1241. All the System 80 & 80A's have the same basic power supply.
More often, you need to repin connectors. The existing plugs may be reusable depending on which style they used on the day they built your machine. For the power supply plugs - use CS156-xx-LR type plugs (xx = number of contact positions) and replacement pins 08-52-0113. For the edge connectors - replace contacts with 08-52-0072's.
And, don't forget keying plugs (one per connector) and a crimp tool.

Check the main filter cap in the bottom of the cabinet. If too much AC ripple, replace them. Or if they look original... just replace them.

Probably would be good idea to have a few lamp driver transistors such as MPSA13 and MPSU45 (CENU45).

That covers the most common consumables on these machines. There are other things that may go wrong but evaluate them on a case by case basis (i.e. 6532's).

Fast and inexpensive shipping as well. Again, can't go wrong with Ed.

I was turned on to GPE recently and would highly recommend for Gottlieb parts/some info.. I too am a Gottlieb system 80 freak, and find myself going back to Ed more and more. Try GPE first and Big Daddy second(Only used once and had long shipping issues JMO).
