Odd that the most famous one isn't on your list(but I'm biased since I now own one :))

Haunted House
Black Hole
Mars God of War
Spider-Man
Volcano

I found HH to be boring. Perhaps the owner needed to raise the rear levelers. But as long as you keep the ball in either the upper or lower part of the game, you'll never drain.

BH isn't like that though. If you don't make those drops, you had better not be going down or your ball is kaput.

Even if you found HH boring, it doesn't change the fact it's of one of the most iconic Gottlieb games, so I would have to pick it to represent the System 80 lineup.

BH is just a machine engineered to solely take peoples money. So many different ways to lose the ball and very few ways to score meaningful points (i.e. enjoy playing it). I didn't like it, but it's still a famous Gottlieb game.

I interpreted playpin35's question as what 5 games would I want in my System 80 line-up.

If it were a popularity contest over gameplay, then, yes, you're right that HH would have to be in top 5. Instinctively, I just don't think that way when I judge pins.

I agree with Vipe.. of you are looking to represent the 80's with Gottlieb
system 80's..

I'd go...

Haunted House (own)
Black Hole (own)
Mars God of War (would love to own)
Volcano (these are always beat to hell for some reason)

I dont really have an opinion on the 5th but I'll go Spider-Man if I had to pick.

I haven't got to play all of the system 80s, but own

Haunted House
Black Hole
James Bond 007
Pink Panther (as of yesterday)

Thinking Spiderman for #5

Good score on the PP Jim - give me first dibs when you're burned out!;)

I'm going to cheat and put my favs of each System 80 platform.

System 80
Black Hole (highest production run)
Haunted House
Spiderman (my fav of this platform) would love to find a MINT one!

System 80A
Spirit (my favorite Gottlieb pin!)
Rocky (hard to find here - heavily exported overseas)

System 80B
Genesis (best one of the B series)
TX-Sector (hidden gem)

i owned a black hole. i worked on it for two months. got it looking and playing like new, and couldnt wait to get it out of the house. boring doesnt describe it, it sucked. years ago, i had a sys80b monte carlo. i loved that game. it was fun, some tough shots, the heart pacing 10 million shot, the roulette wheel that actually had an impact on the game. sold it to a friend who wont sell it back to me. underated. BH, vastly over rated.
