I have 2 Solid State "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and both of
them are showing the exact same problem. It seems that no signal
except for the slam switch is registering from the coin door. Not the
test switch, the coin up, or the start button. The slam switch is fine
and the game will power up and boot with a standard CPU board. I am
currently using a Ni-Wumph board to test, but the machine will not
credit or play.
If I manually hold the Game off relay I can activate the flippers just
fine so I know that those work, but it will not play a game.
Any ideas?
I have already ordered a new connector for A1-J6 and replacement pins,
but it is odd that two of these machines would have the exact same
problem.
Is there a known issue for this particular machine?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
