I am looking to buy a pinball machine and came across a Gottlieb raven pinball machine, is this game any good? What would be a good price? I can get it for $600, is that good deal or is that to high of a price?

You have to ask yourself if you are willing to have that backglass in your gameroom. Think about that long and hard...:D

I've always thought it would be sweet to make a Rambo conversion kit for this one.

is a 250 dollar pin in good working order, it was a commercial flop

ugly as sin, and from what ive heard its not much fun

do yourself a favor and find a decent system 11 game, or even a lw3(cheapest dmd i see)

but raven honestly is an eyesore.......i mean do you want to look at that fake dike everyday? jmho

I had one for about a year and really enjoyed it. Sold it to a friend who still has it a couple years later and he likes it too.

It is a bit different, but the helicopter connected to the spinner, the ramp that retracts, and the sniper drop targets keep it interesting to me.

It's the game everybody loves to hate. It has the reputation of being one of the worst pins out there....but maybe it doesn't deserve it. .....well the backglass could be one of the worst!
I personally have had one come though my garage, and it is pretty lame. The artwork (backglass) is awful, but the game isn't the worst, in my opinion. I liked the pop up sniper targets, and the ramp shot is tough.

Worst backglass Evar. but hey go play it and see if you like it.
i went to go see one for one of my first pins and bought a lethal weapon 3 instead, Best Decision Evar :p

Generally considered a Dog of a pin. If you do like it and can handle the picture on the backglass, you will have a difficult time selling it later. I have seen working ones in good condition sell for $200.

Bah...Don't go by the backglass!!! Have you seen Genesis? And that's one of the best if not the best Premier pin...

Honestly though Raven is bad and is considered of of the worst of the Gottliebs....and 600 is still too high for it....

ipdb.org gives it a rating of 6.4/10, some of the comments indicate that people like the gameplay. I have such an aversion to the backglass that even though I've seen it at shows, I've never played it.

If I were you, I'd try to play it before making a decision. Then I'd have to say that $600 may be a bit high, even if it's in good shape.

A search of completed listings on Ebay shows one not selling for $600 in the recent past, which may also indicate that $600 is too high, unless you're getting free delivery or a warranty or something.

RLEVIN offered to give me one for my nice Tron.

It took me about .2 seconds to pass on the deal. ;)

Thanks to everyone for your input, I think I will hold off and pick something up that is better down the road. Sounds like the asking price of $600 is way to high for it.

$600 is grossly too high for that pin. IMO, it is the worst pin ever. I played one once... And that's all it took. It was in near mint shaped and played flawlessly. After playing for 20 minutes, I walked away because it was THAT boring.

For $600, you can find something MUCH better.

I played Family Guy at West Edmonton Mall once. After a while everyone else in the group got 4 or 5 games each on the machines around me, and I was still on my 1st actual ball, with 2 extra balls, the center post up, and 3 free credits sitting in the machine, all on my first dollar. Everyone else was getting bored, and ready to move on, so I ended up sinking the last of the round, and gave my free games to some little kid walking by, that could barely see the playfield.

I'm sure that kid was there until closing time playing.
