I have been trying to get a Qbert cabinet for awhile and they are very hard to come by around here. I picked up one Gottlieb cabinet but was told prior to getting it that it was not a Qbert. It is shaped like one but it is 67 inches from the bottom of the wood to the topmost part, just over 69 inches from the floor. Was told it is a 3 Stooges or Krull. It has the raised lettering Gottlieb coin door. It was redone numerous times as it has Atari, Capcom, etc. stickers all over it.

Another one came up that was thought to be a Qbert but it also appears to be too tall. Measurements need to be redone to see if it was from the ground or the bottom of the wood to be sure. It is a Gottlieb cabinet and shaped like a Qbert but was redone. Currently it has a gas pedal on the right bottom. The cabinet is painted all black. It has a steering wheel control panel.

I have Googled and found several dimensions for a Qbert cabinet. Do not know if they measured from the ground or the bottom of the wood. Measurements vary up to 2 inches or so so I'm not sure what the actual dimensions should be and how measured.

How can I tell if it is a Qbert cabinet? Can anyone provide good dimensions and note where / how they were taken. Also, what other cabinets, if any, besides 3 Stooges and Krull could be mistaken for a Qbert?

I know the others like 3 Stooges and Krull are supposed to be rare, but seems that is all I'm finding. Did they simply have extra height below the coin door or what are the differences between them and Qbert? The width and depth on the one I already have is identical to Qbert.

Thanks

Gotlieb cabs generally didn't have leg levelers. They had strips of wood on each side, for it to sit on. Measure the actual cabinet side - from the bottom of the side to it's tallest point.

Q*bert measures 64 1/8th
Krull measures 67 1/8th

The website I posted above shows the strips of wood on the Qbert but not on the Krull. You think the Krull had them too? I have seen pics posted of the bottom of a Qbert. The Krull I have (that type of cabinet anyway) has levelers on it and does not appear to have the strips of wood. I didn't know enough about them back when I moved it to check out the bottom real close to see if I could tell if it had been modified. Not in a place to easily check it now.

The second one another guy thought is a Qbert that I can get has the strips of wood but they measured it at the Krull height. I'm hoping it was measured from the ground and maybe someone added levels and it turns out to be a Qbert. Looks like there is some diffs on the control panel regarding how far it sticks out from the wood going down from the marquee. Will know more in a few days when I get some new measurements.

Do you know if the material used in Qbert vs. Krull was different? I'm being told the possible Qbert is very heavy. KLOV doesn't list a weight for Krull. I didn't think it was overly heavy.

There is some nice pics of Mad Planets (same cabinet as Qbert) and also Krull in this thread: http://www.classicarcadegaming.com/forums/index.php?topic=2404.0

Biggest difference is the top portion of the control panel relative to the wood sides coming down next to the bezel. As shown in the pics, the Qbert control panel is virtually all forward of the wood sides. On the Krull, about half the control panel is behind the wood sides.

Could it be a MACH 3

If there's no lock on the coin door, the knocker can vibrate it open and shut you down mid game. Freaked me out, I was like "Oh no..." but quickly got it sorted, lol.
