Just brought this thing home, so far Ive managed to get it to boot up, all the lighting is operational, sound works. My problem is that I have all zeros across the board on the displays and the game over relay wont stay engaged. No matter how many credits I feed it, the display stays on zero and if I physically hold the game over relay, I can rack points up but the displays still read zero. This thing runs a system 80a and I have bypassed the slam switch. I really miss Clays guides when I get into these things! Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks ken, not sure how I missed that. I ended up getting the displays to start showing what they are supposed to by re seating chips and connections. I still dont have the game over relay operating and I have displays with missing digits. I have jammed the game over switch on and the game is working great, it just wont stay on by itself. When I hold it on by hand I can feel a very faint buzz like it is trying to engage on its own. I will add a pic of the displays in a few.

The missing digits still do not work

Could be bad digit driver and could be bad memory. But, very first thing I would suspect... them steenkin edge connectors. Turn off machine, reseat and then turn back on. Do symptoms change? If so, replace connectors and/or contacts.

I did re seat the edge connectors and that did fix a couple random digits but thats what got them to work as you see pictured. Why is it that players 1 & 3 are missing identical digits as well as 2 & 4? would that point to a digit driver?

Players 1 & 2 share the same segment drivers, players 3 & 4 share the same segment drivers. Problem does not appear here.

Players 1 & 3 share the same digit drivers, players 2 & 4 share the same digit drivers. And, in sharing these digit drivers, they also share the same pins on the MPU board's connector. Problem appears to be here. The fact that you reseated the edge connectors and it did fix a few random digits is a pointer that the connectors aren't in real good shape. Reseating might not be fixing it, just changing the symptoms. Try it again to see if problem changes or moves.

But, whatever you do - don't reseat any of the connectors with the power on!

I still lean towards connectors. Yet, -could- be digit driver. Possibly Z24.

I reseated them again and now have this, any input as to which connector it is?

I had some trouble finding them but I ordered some connectors and they turned out to be the wrong ones. Does anybody have a link to a good source for these things? Are these a specific type or have a particular name for them?

Ok, I finally got around to ordering new edge connectors and recieved them today, thanks Ed! I have replaced mpu connector J1 and J2 and I still have the exact same symtoms. Whats my next step here? should I bother to replace the rest of the connectors? Any ideas from you pros is most definately appreciated!!
