I have owned 3 HH over the years. I know how to fix them and what to look for.

I got a call from someone yesterday with a HH for sale. He said it has been in storage for over 21 years and the cabinet/playfield and backglass is mint. Since it was in storage the battery has destroyed the CPU board. I know I can buy a replacement board so that is not an issue but it subtracts off the price I was willing to pay. He owned the game since 1984 and based on pictures I have received the game is extremely nice.

I told the guy what the game is worth to me but we can not agree on a price.

Based on what I stated above what would you pay?

$600-800 (us).

Worst case, the corrosion travelled down and damaged the driver board as well, and thru the wires and onto the power supply board.

A near-mint BG & PF sounds very nice, esp. if the lower pf doesn't have damage where the ball drops on. Is there mylar all over the playfields?

agree on the lower end of that price - $500-$600 max, sounds like a dream restore project! probably one you wouldnt ever want to get rid of but if you did it would probably be one of the best Haunted Houses ever completely restored.

wow that sounds cheap ?! are HH's really that cheap in the usa ?
here in Europe they're a lot more than that.. probably one of the only games that's cheaper in the usa than here :)
I had suspected that a mint HH would be much more expensive..

The reason that they are cheaper here is that they made a lot of them and it's a rather easy game to find in the USA.

Gottlieb Spirit - Now find one of those in the USA. I was told that most Spirits were shipped outside the USA when they were new.

The driver board is fine. My offer to him was $800 but he wanted more.

What would I pay? 300-500

What is fair market value- Probably 900-1200..... I know there are repro parts for this game out there, but a nice original is a nice original. Even with a bad CPU board, this sounds like it is a very nice HH.

The sad thing about it is I use to have a wall of Gottlieb multi-level pins.

Krull

Spirit

Kept the BH but sold the rest. I know Krull is extremely rare but the game play kind of sucks. I believe all the Krull's that were made never left the USA. Most of them were on test in the Chicago market back in the 1980's.

Several years back (2000/2001) a local friend found a Spirit (in Texas), and he restored it - I restored and clearcoated his mini-playfield for him. Very interesting game with unusual play - there's a quite challenging set of shots (tight), and the sound package is pretty cool. He did NOT keep the game....

I am restoring/clear coating a Spirit playfield for someone who owns a game that the mini pf is already clear coated.

He just sent me the lower (main) playfield.

I wonder if it's the same game.

Good grief, wish I knew what the S/N number was! Could be - it's possible a "Chicago area" resident could have picked it up, since all things pinball are in that area....

Chris

I would say $800 max!

And I also don't believe anyone until I see it, that says its mint but been in storage for 21 years. I doubt that it's mint. Mint according to him? And how/where was it stored?

I would expect the usually things on it and if there's the acid damge, then the other boards probably need to be updated too to make it reliable.

Don't get me wrong I would buy it, but I doubt it's mint.

I like the play of Krull, even from the ball launch if you don't know what you're doing you'll get hosed, SDTM. I really wish I had a Spirit, my friend has one. Great player, great sounds.
