I thought this game was going to suck but it's actually pretty fun. These Gottlieb System 80B games, while an occasional Super-PITA to repair are actually great games. Well, some are. Some flat out suck.

To me, the best part about this game was the siren. I have not played it in such a long time that I can;t recall if I liked it or not. I'd think not, but I could be mistaken :)

i REALLY liked some of the 80B titles. Lights, Camera, ACTION! was outstanding (IMO), and I really liked Hot Shot as well.

I love the cool NES-ish music on Gold Wings...and it's got a really unique playfield layout. I had one but never quite got it shopped out before I sold it. Kinda wish I finished the job and jammed on it a bit.

I enjoy a couple of them as well. I used to play Gold Wings, Raven, and Rock at Hersheypark's arcade. They don't have any of them anymore (despite still having MANY classic games), but I remember really loving them as a kid since they had strange layouts (especially Gold Wings). I think the best Gottlieb game from that era is probably TX-Sector.

I played one a lot last weekend and it is definitely an interesting game with some really weird, non-symmetrical layouts and flipper positions, but what bothered me is that the ball time seems to be really long -- I find this to be a common problem with a lot of sys80 games. If you're a decent player you can often keep the ball in play forever, and that takes the fun out of it.

i owned a gold wings, and trying as hard as i could, i just couldnt get into it. in fact, couldnt stand it. i also owned a monte carlo, and miss it every day. ps- i think light , camera, action is a system 3 game ( DMD)

I never played Monte Carlo. The LCA I played was definately not DMD :) IPDB.org shows it as a System 3 though, you are correct. Sorry for my confusion.

System 3 was from Barb Wire to World Challenge Soccer
System 80C was Amazon Hunt II to Victory

I just picked up an Arena and I love it, the whole Bagatelle skill shot is great and the fact it's not just a 1 off on ball launch makes it a focal point.

Never played a a Gold Wings, there's one for sale locally though...but I'm out of space.

The one thing I DON'T like about these games is the backglass though, with no feature lighting...it's just ON and that's it.

The game is such an obvious "Top Gun" ripoff though, just look at the BG art, even came out the same year.
