I have an issue with the coil on my Genesis. It is the coil that kicks the ball to the plunger after it hits the outhole. I replaced the 2n5879 transistor under the playfiled but I know there is a transistor on the driver board that has to be bad. I also know this game sys80b, has a few transistors that I can steal on that board for unused solienoids (#3). My problem is that I can not find this on the schematics to tell which transistor needs changed, anyone have any easy tips for me, not a pin pro, but I think I will be after fixing so many issues lately...any help would be awesome if by chance you have this manual...

It's Q59 on my manual..... which is2n6043... There is a fuse that controls that coils. Did you check that?

Well, that kind of my question as well, the outhole coil is q59, but there is a coil on the outhole, then another coil that kicks the ball into the plunger lane, its the latter that is "stuck on" on powerup. Thus I would think the outhole coil as labled in the schematics are for the coil that is labled Solenoid 9, the one I have stuck on is not on the test function I dont believe. I cant figure this out... Am I high?

Well after scouring this thing, it looks like its the "ball release" coil which appears in the schematics is run of the driver board as "L14" a lamp driver. The coil tests good, I removed the ground and tap it to the ground post I unsoldered it from, it kicks. I just need to figure out what transistor on the driver board runs "L14" , now I cant even figure that out...I still trying...anyone read schematics well and may be able to help? ughh

Jay,

There is some unused transistors on the board. I used one when I noticed my right ramp flasher wasn't working. I will have to look into it later.

Gotcha... I'll dig out my manual and trace it back....

Just took a look at the manual. If I am reading it right, it looks like its Q3 that controls the ball release. MPS-U45. During the Solenoid test, it is labeled as L14.

There is one of these unused on your board that you can replace it with(if its still present). Its located at Q54.

Give me a call if that does not make any sense.

Nice, I just traced it and guessed on Q54, I will try that and see....thanks brother...

FWIW: I hate how these sys 80 games use 2 tranistors, I read that Gottlieb "ran out" of these hi powered transistors and went this route with these games, is that some f-up engineering or what?
