Been playing my Big Brave more after getting issues fixed. Have noticed another issue.

When playing and getting 100 point items the 100 point reel advances but when it goes from 900 back to 000 the 1000 point reel does not advance. In most cases it seems the bonus light column on the playfield does advance and then when the current ball is lost the bonus score is given. I'm assuming the bonus is a bonus only and the 1000 point should advance when the hundred reel goes back to 000. It does that in the Visual Pinball version but Visual Pinball is not always accurate of the real game.

In scoring a 1000 point item, the 1000 point score reel does advance. I've gone through the score reel switches and all appear well. Gone through the relays in the backbox except one. Only thing in the backbox I have not gone through is a relay that controls a small 0 - 9 double rotary switch (read this is probably a match unit) and a larger unit in the center of the backbox that has a rotating shaft with plastic disks (not sure what this is called).

The scoring motor does not run when the 100's reel goes back to 000. I do not know if it should. Have been looking over the schematics and I don't fully understand it but know that the switches on the score reels are involved with advancing as well as some of the relays I've adjusted.

The problem more than likely is in your 100's score reel. When the reel reaches 900 it activates a switch so the next 100 points advances the 1000's reel as the 100's advance back to 0. Check the contacts on the switches of the 100's reel as you advance it manually. Gottliebs are notorious for this problem.

I had gone through the contacts on both 100 point reels. Just double checked with a meter while manually working the player 1 reel and I get good electrical contact on all 3 switches when closed. The issue exists on both player 1 and player 2 so I thought it could be something somewhere else where a switch or relay is shared between the players.

The 100 point reels have 3 switches. When in the 0 position the switch to one side is closed. When it moves off 0 that switch opens and the middle switch closes. The fingers move enough to almost close the switch that activates when 9 is reached. In fact, before I adjusted it, I think this switch did close.

Then when it goes to 9 the fingers move further and the 9 switch closes. The middle switch remains closed.

Should the 9 switch close only when 9 is reached (as currently adjusted) or should it also close from 1 - 8?

In manually working the 10's, 100's, and 1000's relays (N, M, and L) with the machine on found that the 10's has an issue too. Neither the 10's or the 100's advances the next reel when going from 9 to 0. The 1000 one works.

Check the relays that fire the 100 point and 10 point reels and make sure your getting good contact at all switches. The Gottliebs that I own now and have owned are real touchy on some of this stuff.
